Listen here punk! (sorry just had to say that :P ) The prices I quoted are AU (Australian). Hence the price difference. =) Our dollar is catching up but it's still only ~75 - 80 US cents. Mind you, newegg prices are probably still cheaper even with the excahnge rate. Guess we have to wait till the b...

yeah

I know GeorgeP had one in his K6.

We used to have a benchmark page around here but I can't find it at the moment. I think some others ran the GF3 as well.

I wasn't talking about the PII celeron. I know about those. I sold a C300A on ebay and advertised it running @ 504 MHz. They were good chips. The current celeron is woeful check here As for the Ti200 reaching Ti500 speeds, that is a mixed bag. It really depends what speed of RAM they put on the card...

fdd

If all else fails you could always go to your local computer market and get a second hand FDD controller. You may have to get a multi I/O controller and disable the other ports (HDD, serial, parallel).

It will probably be ISA but it should only cost $5 - 10.

RE: hmm...

remember you were a newbie once too! Well my first 3D card was a TnT2 m64 PCI which I bought for my S7. I think that I learned my lesson straight away with 3D cards. I thought the m64 meant that it was better than the standard cards, which I thought must only be 32bit. Big mistake. From then...

So you are 'suggesting' that despite it's age , and lack of warranty the GeForce III's are still a good buy? Well you learn something new everyday :P AGE??? You own a K6, that pre-dates the GF3 by a few years don't you think? The GF3 would whip the 5200 and 9200. And DX9? Forget it. Just be...

oh yeah and the games...

As for games, well I got rid of quite a few recently, but the ones that I can recommend are (these are all multiplayer): 1. Insane Racing (demolition zone is fun with Trucks!) 2. NFS III & IV (porche) 3. Tony Hawk Pro skater 2 & 3 (only 3 has real multiplayer) 4. Motocross Madness 2 (I have ...

OK then...

Have you all forgotten about the Geforce3? I have 3 of them (originals, not the Ti500) in athy systems. and they all run great. If you check out the benches at Tom's hardware HERE they show that for a TB1000 a GF3 is about all that's needed for really good frame rates. I bought mine from ebay. I bet...

COOL!

Way to go mono!

Takes alot of effort to get an active (not static) site up.

If I had the time I'd probably have a go myself.

Have fun. =)

2.0V K6-2...

From memory the 2.0V K6 non-plusses were hand selected (not literally) so while they may run at lower voltage there is no guarantee on overclocking. I would suggest that it may hit close to 500 though.

The figures you mention are about right for a K6-2.

If you get a K6-III or a 2+ then you will see better results but there's no point comparing them to a PIII 733 or an athlon 600 for that matter.
