RE: Recommendations for free video-editing software?

SUPER (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer) http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html is a new freeware utility that converts virtually all video and audio formats. It's not an editor as such like Pinnacle Studio but its ability to convert any number of video files exceeds that of any payw...

Well, it turns out that the T2P4 that landed in my lap is not the venerable rev. 3.0 but rather, the rev. 2.1 which is, at best, a waste of space. There is no voltage control and limited multipliers. So much for that.
Jim, have you installed the Ali chipset and AGP drivers in the P5a-b?

Ahhh... I see. Have you considered a different graphics card? The AIW9000 is not very well suited to a 600MHz machine; it drops far too many frames when encoding. You need an XP2000 at a minimum to get decent performance from the video recording function of that card.

Geez Jim, that board was made for ACPI and ATX. You would still be a purist; you'd just have fewer problems. :D
Do you have the latest ATI drivers?
Anyway, it is getting hard to find an ATX PSU that still sports a -5v rail for the ISA bus.

Then I would guess that the problem lies with APM which does not have the savvy of ACPI when it comes to installing hardware. For that, you will have to "mod in" an ATX PSU (easily done), enable ACPI in the BIOS and reinstall Windows. It's probably safe to assume that you have the latest B...

Hi Jim, I am not exactly clear on the OS. If it is, as you say, SP3, are we talking about W2K or XP Pro SP2? In any case, if you have APM enabled in Power Options , then it sounds like a driver problem and would recommend cleaning out all parts of old drivers with Driver Cleaner I've had similar pro...

LOL ... You can imagine my surprise when login here for the first time in years and see that a thread I started 5 years ago is still a hot topic. I just had a P/I P55T2P4 land in my lap and am back to refresh my knowledge of this old classic. I still have a couple of + chips, a K6-2+ and a K6-3+, bo...

To get rid of those shutdown problems with a VA-503+ on an AT power supply with a 4333 BIOS, reinstall Win 98SE without ACPI. This is done by using the /p i switch. ie setup /p i With XP you could try going into Device Manager and reinstalling the ACPI driver. Choose "Show all hardware of this ...

You can get a switch for the price of a hub these days. I just bought a 5 port switch refurbished from Belkin for $11.49 that works great. It sure beats the $50 retail price. http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatSectionView.process?IWAction=Load&Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=201520 The content of this p...

I'm sure that your local big box hardware and building supply store will have cat5e in stock and will cut you any length and possibly any colour for about 12 cents per foot. They probably have RJ45 connectors as well. I decided to buy a crimping tool from a nearby wholesaler for about $25 US. By the...

Well, that's good news. I was starting to think the P5A-B/1011.005 might be on the "bad bios" list.

Are you saying you are using the same board and bios and it shows it as ACPI in the DevMan? I'm afraid not. I have two of those boards, with that BIOS but one runs 98SE and the other ME. In both cases ACPI is enabled. My experience with the Hardware Obstruction Layer comes from W2K which runs happi...
