Linux... I don't know who got the "brilliant" idea of requiring i686 or higher as default, so many current distros doesn't work. Ubuntu, which is the most popular right now, simply doesn't work as support was explicitely dropped in 11.x. And future doesn't look bright... I hate to say it ...

You really can still use Socket7 systems today for surfing the internet and Microsoft Office applications without any problems. Running Win2K such a system only uses 100 - 200 MB of RAM - so who needs Win7? Linux isn't RAM hungry either and it's a nice break from the MS offerings (currently running...

Acer AL1916W LCD powerboard capacitor re-population
I've had this monitor for a while and I'm probably the third owner it's had (my family share upgrade discards), I was naturally curious about the condition of it's capacitors after hearing of others with venting components causing all kinds of collateral damage... from flickering displays to rupture...

I used to have one also, but the fact that they were just a stock K6-2 500 factory OC'ed was very apparent, as it ran hot, was unstable and wouldn't OC one extra MHz, so i had no fondness for it. The factory 550's were better than an enthusiast OC as the factory deemed it more stable than the 533/5...
