You can download the complete Excel Sheet of my tests at: http://home.in.tum.de/voelk/boards.xls This might answer most of your questions. Most of the tests ran with one 256 MB PC133 stick. For some I had to switch to a 128 MB stick because the 256 one didn't boot. I tried to tweak the memory for be...

Look at the download site of George Breese: http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/
He has a patch called "Memory interleave enabler for VIA chipsets" that starts 4-bank interleave before anything else. Also you can find the PCR files for WPCREDIT.

You can get an idea on this website, but the prices are a bit too high:
http://www.upgradeability.com/K6plus/index.htm
You can find them cheaper at ebay.
You have to be careful with your P5A-B revision when you want to use a K6-2+ or K6-III+.
If it is Rev. 1.04 or 1.05 it isn't compatible.

RE: P5A-B RAM Upgrading
Better upgrade your CPU with a K6-III,K6-2+ or a K6-III+. They all have L2 cache build in and are able to cache all your RAM. With your K6-2 the onboard cache is used and it might be that only 256MB or 512MB are cached and it may even slow your system down when you use more RAM.

When I put a link to k6speed in my Autostart folder it works like it should (with both 0.87 and 0.88 versions). Did you install the driver files (k6speed.sys and k6speed.VXD) in the same folder as k6speed.exe? Here's an image of the settings of my link in autostart (in German though...): http://home...

try the Compatibility List of this site. http://compatlist.k6plus.com GA-586TX2 is there. Don't know if it is the same as you got. But if K6-III works, K6-III+ might work, too. You can turn on the stuff manually and modify your bios with the russian bios patcher. Info from Compatibility List for GA-...

if you just fdisk'ed and didn't create file systems or format the partitions then you can write a new partition table with the info about the old partitions. I just did this under linux. there are some very good linux programs that can handle this... fdisk in fact just changes the partition table an...

Thanks very much for your interesting research. In fact I used 2.2v just to try to get the K6-III+ to run at more than 550Mhz, but with no success. I can also run it at lower voltages (2.0v at 550Mhz should do), I just was too lazy to change it back. I'm using one of those low power "embedded" K6-II...
