I don't see any reason why that XFX card wouldn't work. It's supported as far back as Windows 95 and the minimum supported CPU is a Pentium III. A K6-III in many aspects is faster than the low-end P3 processors. To be honest, it's a PCI card, and if you have a driver that works with the OS you want...

Hard to believe the K6-3/FIC mobo/TNT2-64 combo would lose out to your IBM -- sounds like a configuration issue. Try *underclocking* the CPU as much as possible to see if there is some heat issue. I don't know which model IBM you have, but many of those systems (and comparable HP's and Compaq's) hav...

Re: Minimum requirements for Max Payne are WAY too much...

I really wouldn't count on it being all that playable even if you could really overclock a K6-III+ through the roof. From the maxpayne.com website: MINIMUM SPECS: --------------------- 1Ghz PIII/Athlon or 1.2Ghz Celeron/Duron processor 32MB AGP graphics card with hardware transform & lighting s...

Probably the best/cheapest bet for that system would be to get a Voodoo3 PCI card cheap on ebay.

SPD=Serial Presence Detect

Nothing to do with any kind of serial number, nor any differentiation between retail and oem, all modern SDRAM uses this to allow the motherboard automatically detect the speed, latencies and precharge/discharge timings of the memory chip.

:?: Could you tell me a little about the machines having trouble with SP2? I've loaded it on four systems so far and I've been getting good results Well, besides my aforementioned CDRW disaster, the PC consistently became non-responsive upon loading the desktop. Machine specs: Duron 750 DFI AK-74ec...

Yup, I loaded SP2 onto a secondary PC and it whupped it... shot the CDRW tray out and now it doens't work, constant red light. I knew SP2 was a pos anyway, but I am, by nature, a curious fellow and couldn't resist.

Hi Jim I'm a long-time lurker here, and just now registered... Could you please be a bit more specific about "Some of the drivers seem to be in conflict with 98..."? I've always liked the VIA 4.43's for applicable SS7 mobo's. AFAIK, mobo AGP driver *always* gets installed prior to video ca...
