I'm prejudiced, but I'd keep it as a backup if you don't have one. Agree you'll probably do better parting it out, but Ebay's Completed Auctions indicate Socket 7 gear going for Very little. A fine Epox MB like mine recently sold for 99 cents, hence, I'm keeping it. Besides being a fine net backup, ...

Socket A is fine for me now too. I picked up a 1800 DLT3C 1.5v tbred B on Ebay for peanuts, and it's doing fine at 2255 @1.60v ATM. I modded a little mini tower to accomodate a Biostar M7NCG 400 matx MB. Rig is small, fast and Quiet (not pure silent darnit). I'm sure the chip will go higher, but I'm...

Not altogether. I had built my Epox SS7 mostly for fun and as a backup to my XP rig. I had a Chaintech 7NIL1 nf2 400 matx and a Duron 1600 doing nothing and decided to make that my backup because it was quicker and seemed to support my digital camera better. Then my primary rig began doing a better ...

taz, thanks. This little K6 III 450+ I picked up for $30 never ceases to amaze me relative to how many basic tasks one can achieve. Coupled with my Epox with the latest bios options, it's a hummer. Having it cooled with an 80x80 + Rain, t'is cool and very quiet. :) My 2400 Barton mobile overclocked ...

I've got the MVP3G2, and just ran CPUMark99 for fun = 59.4. Swell Epox version chipset. Recall when I had the FIC 503+ Epox was always scoring higher. Not having cleaned my cache or defragged in some time, I just got the following in Sandra: mem bandwidth - 222/220 arithmetic - 1291/667 m media - 31...

One person I read about uses Rain along w/XP in a notebook, and says it helps. Those temps aren't great, but not awful either. If she's not getting instability, maybe do nothing. If she is, try Rain, and if not enough, I'd try another cooler for that tropical weather in Toronto. Better case exhaust ...
