Do you have ACPI enabled in your BIOS?

That problem is usually related to an ACPI enabled OS (like W2k or XP) and APM capable hardware. I have that problem on some of my SiS530 - based mobos running W2k and I think on one of my XP boxes.

KHPower, Did you resolve your problem? If not, try going into your Control Panel/Internet Options. Select the "Programs" tab -- there you should find a "Reset Web Settings..." button. Press it and that will reset to the original Web settings (probably MSN as home) then you can tr...

Got a second monitor, so I'll try it this weekend. If that doesn't clear up the problems, then I'll reload.

This BIOS does not have an option to set the memort interleaving - so could not try setting to 2-way.

I will check the memory interleaving option tonight and try it at 2-way if not already set there. Anyone else with suggestions? The problem is not a killer - just a source of irritation since the system does not behave as I expect it to. Last resort will be to reload W2K (but I really am trying to a...

Kachi & Jim, I notice the problem when either I or Windows does a warm boot - like after installing Windows Operating System updates or new software that requires a reboot. The system powers off normally, monitor power light is blinking, the system goes into POST (various drive lights turn on an...

Jim, Does the POST process always display on your system in a reboot? This one will not display POST during most reboots (like after installing Windows updates or new software). If it starts up from a cold system, then POST displays. I'm using BIOS 1011 Beta 005. During a warm boot the screen will u...

ASUS P5A-B Build

A deviation from my usual EPoX SS7preference... This is my first time using an ASUS mobo (P5A-B Ver 1.4). Got it several months ago along with an AT case and PSU, a K6-2 550 with HSF. I had suspected that some of my "+" CPUs would run at the 6 x 105MHz setting (I think that the 105MHz FSB ...

Sheeez - a flurry of activity on this post since I looked at it last week! Jim, I've been trying to solve a problem with my EPoX MVP3G5 and its K6-III+ 500ANZ CPU which are running WinXP Pro in between patching PCs for other people. Something I've done recently - some setting changed, some new hardw...

EPoX boards are still floating around and they have AGP 4x and 5 PCI slots along with 3 RAM slots (PC133/PC100). I have an EP-7KXA (Slot 1, uses Pentium II and Pentium III) and an EP-6VBA (Slot A) with CPUs for each. They are not in use at the moment, though, so can't provide any test data.

That error is usually related to drivers or faulty hardware. Are you installing WinXP on the 591P while other devices (PCI or ISA cards, printers, USB devices) are attached? Reformated the HDD? From Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=311564 and this one: http://kadaitcha.cx/stop_err.html

When you tried connecting your ATX power supply to the 591P motherboard, did you also connect the POWER switch cable that was connected to the other motherboard? Or you could short across the POWER switch motherboard connection on the 591P. Did you re-install WinXP using the K6-2+ or the K6-2? To ru...

Just to check the motherboard's jumpers: (Looking down on the motherboard with the AT/ATX power connector in the upper right corner) JP1 should have a jumper only on pins 11 and 12 (be sure that pins 1 and 2 are not jumpered). JA26 should have the first two pins jumpered JA27 should have the last tw...
