Thanks for the advice Jim. Actually I forgot to mention that I used the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers - I think that made a difference.., In regards to installing the FX5200 on a SS7, I think I'll pass....all my computers work great right now and the most certain thing about antique hardware is that it ...

Hi Jim, No issues really....I have even tried the Radeon 9250 as well with no problems. I'm using a standard 200w power supply etc, and I don't need to set up the BIOS settings in any specific manner etc :D I am however getting the ocassional BSOD with the latest catalyst drivers so I wound it back ...

Hi Guys, Whilst I realise what I'm about to say is a little late in the conversation, both myself and my work colleague have had absolutely no end of problems trying to get various Radeon 9200 family cards to work in Ali chipsets to a point we have given up. The problem is that we continually get &q...

Well, I guess there is not much that can be done to overcome the problem i thats the case.

I am considering getting a Geforce FX 5200 and trying it, but I'm wondering if there is any advantage so compared to the Geforce2 on this system :)

OK, thats real easy. Voodoo 5 5500 - Fastest PCI graphics card ever produced.

I use one on my VIA SS7 board and it beats any AGP card on the same mobo hands down. 8)

I have tried many different combinations of new and old AGP cards on many different SS& boards - only advice I give is never combine a Radeon 92xx card on an ALI chipset - it will continually give you VPU errors. Other than that, I have best results with a Gforce2 MX400 on an ALI mainboard. See ...

Exactly.

I've had no problems with plug-and-play ISA stuff like soundcards and modems on my collection.

I did however have to upgrade my Accton non-PnP ISA 10Mbit network card, but then again.....did I really want it??

So non-PnP stuff is not going to work.

What about humidity though?? :D

Well, I live in the driest state on the driest continent and we regularily get 46-48 degrees celcius in the peak of summer - I'm going to be very interested in what my K6-3's do then 8)

Mind you I tend to spend most of my time in the pool when that happens anyway 8)
