Re: voodoo 5 5500 AGP

I would be very interested in the Voodoo 5. :D I had one but it died a few years ago. Post here if it's still available. I don't normally check the PM. TIA

So, if I wanted to go all out, would the best proc for the system be an AMD-K6-III+/500ACZ Mobile? Yes, but you will have to flash the motherboards BIOS to recognize the K6-III+ CPU or it will not work with it. A regular K6-3 450 likely would not require a BIOS flash. And is there some sort of trad...

I have a k6-II @ 550MHz, so would getting a K6-III make a noticeable difference? Yes And could it still operate at 133MHz FSB? Yes but you would need to lower the multiplier to keep the CPU operating near its rated speed. I've tried getting the board to do 133MHz, but can't get it to POST with the ...

That Biostar M5SAA looks like a real good SiS530 board to experiment with the 133 FSB. I've got to find me one. :bricks

I have seen a few 503+ (or PA-2013) in North America claimed to be working, at prices from $50-$200! Once I saw a listing for "CPU K6 motherboard" with no model number. I recognised the photo as the FIC beasty, but the seller could not be bothered posting it to another country. It did not...

 Never had my hands on the very rare Pentium 266 Tillamook CPU. My guess would be a BIOS issue is preventing this CPU from being recognized. There is only one person I can think of that could help you out, Jan Steunebrink. Here is the link to Jan's website: http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steun...

Rule of thumb for any RAM - lower numbers are faster. So 2-3-3-6 would be fastest with the lowest CAS rating taking precedence. Hope that helps. ;)

The SiS530 boards rock when setup correctly. There is only a small minority who really know what these boards are capable of. Here's another old SiS530 thread: http://k6plus.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=1700&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=&sid=...

It won't work. :(
Just to keep your settings when you reboot Windows you need Wpcrset to load your settings at startup. Wpcrset won't work with FreeBSD.

The "Disable L2 Cache" option in the BIOS will not disable the L2 cache on the K6-3 but rather the integrated L2 cache on the motherboard.

 This is great information DonPedro. How does the motherboards BIOS recognize the Sata drive on the hardware configuration screen during bootup? Does Windows see the drive as IDE or Sata?
Somehow this setup seems to get around the 137GB ATA interface limit...interesting. :)

I don't have the 503+ in front of me right now but there is at least six caps leaking or bulging on my motherboard. If I was to invest the effort into fixing it I may as well replace all the caps for durability. I may still fix it anyway because these boards are almost impossible to find in good con...

I'm not sure exactly what happened but I'm beginning to wonder if this board was really new at all and I was sold a piece of trash in a nice shiny box. The box and anti-static bag were unsealed when I received it but I was told it was never used. It also came with a new manual and all the accessorie...

Around 5 years ago I started collecting Super7 boards when I realized how scarce these were getting. I haven't added any to my collection in a long time. There's two boards that still elude me, a "working" FIC VA-503+ and the Tyan S1598-C2. Here's what I got: Aopen AX59PRO Asus P5A Rev 1.0...
