Ground provides a zero reference for other power pins (among other things), +5V for instance is just a differential from ground. That's why some use +5V as ground and +12V as power when connecting fans to get them to spin slower (less noise etc), that way you'd get a +7V diff. As to the extra NC pin...

This is basically the same info as that in the missing Amptron doc.

If you're going to hotflash take Uranium235's advice on selecting a proper
mobo, also note that the Asus P5A uses a large sized chip than most other
SS7 mobos and it does matter.

RE: ALi- "G"-chipset revision, K6+-series

I haven't gotten the P5A rev 1.06 to work properly with a + cpu myself and atm it's somewhere in my apt busy being dead. I did try the same stuff as DonPedro, flashing most versions of the BIOS available to no avail. In regards to the hot-flashing issue, I had success using an old TX based board tha...

K6 hack for WinXP?

Long story short:

I was going to backup my nic drivers located in the system32/drivers dir on
WinXP, found a file called amdk6.sys and googled it.

Now the question is can anyone make any sense of this?

If you're looking for the hottest spot in the computer it's either that place or the backside of the CPU socket (or inside the socket itself) in my opinion. As for mounting a heatsink on the backside over the PCB vias I'd hazard a try with thermally conductive tape like this: http://www.thetechzone....

Is it just the temp probe you want to attach?
If so, am I right in assuming it's just a thermistor bead?
In that case you could glue it in place.

Yeah the PLL can be interesting to monitor as well,
I did the same as you and slapped a heatsink on it.

Think it's more down to searching for pnphpbb mods, or modifying phpbb ones.
Guess you could write one from scratch but it requires some knowledge of PHP.

Any takers?

Edit: I think it would be a nice feature, along with the fixes for time format and the goto first unread etc.

Slow restarts in WinXP/2k

I stumbled across the following at M$ when searching for a fix to the topic. I've tried it with good results on WinXP, thought I'd pass it along in case someone else has the same problem. The User Profile Hive Cleanup service helps to ensure user sessions are completely terminated when a user logs o...
