The least important is the third timing, RAS Precharge. The CAS and RAS-to-CAS are both rather influential. You can frequently configure the fourth you have listed, RAS timing. That one usually doesn't do much either, like RP. But on nForce mobos you can actually gain performance by running it up ar...

I've run a few 530 mobos. Been many years though. I know one of them died for no apparent reason. I also remember trying to play GLQuake on one and it was only able to manage about 5 fps. :D I didn't know that any 530 mobos had AGP. It's not like any of the Super 7 boards had great AGP support anywa...

I have a couple of converters that go the other way and adapt a PATA drive to SATA. They work great. But they add $10 to the drive essentially. I'd never considered the advantages over a PCI IDE card though. However, I have a few Promise and Silicon Image PATA PCI cards and can boot these even on my...

It doesn't solve the memory problem in the link I posted. That's apparently a fundamental issue with the OS.
Here's some more info on it. It looks like some people are working on it though.

Yeah it's because K6-III is pretty much just a K6-2 with some cache memory stuck on. The + chips are actually a new die with changed/added features. I think the biggest problem you'll have if the BIOS doesn't recognize the CPU is special performance features not being automatically enabled. Write Al...

I have a PPro system with a PPro 200 1MB @ 233. It's fun to mess around with a CPU that was $2500 in its day. :) I would actually seriously consider Win9x or WinME on a 200 MHz system though. I'm not convinced of 9x being a major problem for PPro anyway. The OS is almost entirely 32-bit and all your...

It still all useless though. No apps I know of actually use this on a K6. For example, Folding at Home supports 3DNow+ but won't use it on a K6-III+. Not that you'd want to use a K6 for such a task anyway. Like said above, K6-III+ gives you another hundred MHz or so and runs quite a bit cooler. It p...

Boards with both VLB and PCI usually gimp PCI by attaching it to VLB somehow. I have a MSI 486 mobo with PCI. It works pretty good and supports every Socket 3 CPU under the sun, but PCI performance is not that great. Bus mastering doesn't really work, for example. I think it may be PCI bridged to VL...
