Re: SiS530 @133MHz (GA-5SMM/Soyo 5SSM) setup, benching, tweaking

Still playing around with old hardware? Nice! I gave up with that some time ago, still an echo of good old days is lying around in my bench as a set of 10 K6 III+ CPUs ... Hope you all guys are doing well, despite of work, weather and life in general. Keep up and greetings from Zurich, Switzerland! ...

hello conicost, i can remember, i had the same problem on win xp. its indeed impossible to change the ssel3 bit in register 0 on that board (on a mcp3c2/k6bv3/66 it works). i do not understand a lot of electronics, but i think, this bit is simply "not connected", although it physically has...

i think, your L2 cache chip does not sustain 100 mhz fsb.
95 is the maximum ... to be sure, please post its readings. you will find it near the cpu / ram slots. your k6 533afx should definitly do 550 @ stock.

its been a while ... hello @ all ;) The architecture was theoretically capable of going that high. ALi created the Aladdin 7 chipset because they thought AMD was going to keep making K6-III+ chips at speeds above 600 MHz, using a 133 MHz bus. But their yields on the Athlon were so good, and the dema...

its been a long time ...

super7, i have plenty of 500anz cpus at home in germany. if you still need one, 10 euros + shipping and its is yours.
there is one at ebay.de as well.
and there is definetly no 500atz or 550anz existing.

well, the 18.02.2008 was the date of the post in the rom.by forum, where the cbrom182.exe was stated to be the newest and "best" one. sometimes knowledged members post some small descriptions on the files needed for bios patching. and, of course, modbin is for award bioses, not for ami one...

ok, jim, found the cbrom182 file, it is stated to be the newest there (12.02.2008). it is made for adding and deleting award bios modules. you can find this version here: http://bios.rom.by/ROMutils/Award/cbrom/CBROM32_182.zip and, of course, you need the p2/p3 microcode file. sorry for that i will ...
