Re: ;-) still alive, and playing with SS7
Never give up never surrender! :D I have been fiddling with Socket 7 stuff furously around 2006-2007, but then things happened and that passed. Still i am planning to resume at some point, but the my internal "it needs to be useful" requirement needs a review. :D The constantly used 1GHz A...

Re: This place is still going that awesome.
I kinda miss the old news site format, but the forum with decade worth of information is still very valuable. As some great philosopher put it: Will the highways on the Internet become more few? And indeed, many(most?) of my bookmarks from 2005-2007, when i was fiddling around with old hardware, are...

Re: This place is still going that awesome.
Im glad this site didnt bite the dust like countless other old websites that stored invaluable information on older hardware.
I had a large collection of links from 2004-2008 that are now useless, since most sites simply do not exist anymore. Not even in the Internet Archive.

Re: Anyone try K6II-233 on Windows 8, yet?
Speaking of trash, many modern Linux distributions are no better. They have abysmal (retro) hardware compatibility, and some also have redesigned UIs like GNOME3, and Unity : spits : Sadly Windows XP is the latest Windows that runs fairly well on K6 machines, even a cut down version of Windows 7 wil...

Ooh I have been looking for this motherboard for quite some time now. Any tips on where to find one? (There is one in one of the shops at eBay, but that 200 dollar price tag is just sick - or maybe not?)

The only choice you have, besides giving them to the poor, is to ...

Re: GeForce 7900GS AGP 3.3V compatible?
but I'm quite sure that it was Galaxy's mistake to use 3.3V compatible connector, as there are no other 7900GS with this connector. The question is if nVidia allowed its cards with PCI-E-AGP bridge to use 3.3V voltage? Maybe as a precaution to avoid damages? The card still uses external power so ma...

The best SS7 in you experience you can suggest to buy?
I have good experience with two Epox MVP3-G2 boards(rev 1.4 - or is it 1.04  ). I found them to be quite stable, and they have a bit better ATA66 performance than an ALADDIN V board I compared them to.(Acorp 5ALI61) I would advise you to skip onboard audio(SB 16 or SB Pro compatibility at best...
