I don't have the 503+ in front of me right now but there is at least six caps leaking or bulging on my motherboard. If I was to invest the effort into fixing it I may as well replace all the caps for durability. I may still fix it anyway because these boards are almost impossible to find in good co...

MVP3 cacheable RAM limit query
I think the super socket 7 forum is long gone, so I ask here. On Udo Richter's website, I saw a page for DFI mainboards, which showed that the maximum cached memory is halved if you have write back instead of write through. I have not seen this stated before. Does this apply to all VIA MVP3 boards? ...

so my question directed at JSC 1973 is : Could you use 2 512 Meg sticks in an FIC VA_503+ ? (Only two SDRAM slots here). I never saw this question when you posted it a few months back. I have no idea if two 512MB sticks would work in a 503 or not. I do know a single RAM stick of that capacity will ...

can a K6 take 0.7 volts extra?
I bought a VA-503+ mainboard, as I heard they were pretty good (even though AT not ATX). It included a K6-2+ 500 MHz. The seller claimed that it was stable at 616 MHz with PC133 RAM, and a larger cooler (for Duron/Semprons). When I got it, I found it was jumpered to 5.5 x 112, but also to 2.9 V, whe...

fastest super socket 7 mainboard?
I just ran AIDA and Sandra memory benchmarks, and both said haha Alladin 5 or 7 pisses over your crippled VIA junk So I wonder what chipset is best to have? Apart from memory throughput, I would look at things like does it cache more than 256 MB? AGP ?x can FSB overclock to say 112 MHz... Opinions? ...

where are the embedded K6+ ??
I believe that after AMD stopped making the desktop K6, they continued to make an embedded version of the K6+, which ran on 1.8 volts. I have come accross a few mentions that these could be overclocked past 600 MHz with a standard fan. Now I have been checking for AMD K6 in online auction sites over...

why BIOS update needed for K6-2+ but not K6-3?
I have 3 super socket 7 mainboards. I looked in the manuals and all apparently support the K6-3 straight out of the box, but need a BIOS update to take the K6-2+ So I presume the internal L2 cache is not a problem. What is different about the K6-2+ ? I know they introduced the PowerNow feature. I do...

K6-2+ will not fit in ZIF super socket 7
I bought a K6-2+/550ACZ via ebay from a seller in Hong Kong. It will not fit in the ZIF socket 7. The mainboard already has a K6 500 MHz. I tried another K6-2 and also a Cyrix M2 from my junk box, and they go in easily. The board is a Soltek, and the manual lists K6-3 and K6-2+ among the supported C...
