Re: IPC Powernote G795 with K6-3+?!

Cleaning out the dust from this thread just to mention that I finally got the machine to run with 512 MB RAM (2x 256 sticks) - the former problems occured since the sticks got no right contact to the slots as they were to big for the small place and I tried them not completely pushed in... after som...

Re: K6-2+/K6-III+ Motherboard Compatibility List

Hi, not a bad idea but "a bit outdated" at all... I wonder about the laptop corner, as there were even a few notebooks around that were originally equipped with a k6-2+, such as some Lifebooks. Also my G795 supports the K6-2+ originally and runs a K6-3+ now...

Hi Jim, as far as I know W98 can handle 512 MB of RAM. I even tried Everest and was loading as much programs as possible until Everest was showing me 300 MB physical memory being used. Just wanted to remember that the laptop BIOS always recognized 512 MB RAM while XP, 2000 and several Linux distribu...

Just want to dig out this one... by accident I found out that the G795 runs with 512 MB RAM. Lately I tried out 2 pieces of 256 MB 32Mx64 unbuffered DIMMs and so what, it runs. W98SE tells me 511 (...) MB of RAM as well as all hardware diagnostic tools I tried so far... Even though such an ammount o...

Flytech B58 Motherboard - any experiences?

Hello together, lately I digged out a mini pc with this mainboard, it uses the MVP4 chipset and supports even the K6-3 as well as 512 MB RAM... other features are IDE and mini IDE on board, 2 usable PCI slots with riser, front USB, DoC socket, LAN on board and so on... I wanted to build in a K6-3+ b...

Hi Jim... really? When I´m running a full blown system with Avira, ZoneAlarm, Firefox and so on, my machine is running like a duck on nails... and when it goes for youtube video I get a bunch of still pictures while the sound is still fluid... so I wonder what I´m doing wrong as I got my hands on a ...

Just check youtube, there are several videos about this topic... I guess it would run but I doubt that you can speak of fluidity then. Already XP is sucking the latest bit out of the K-6... at last if it´s going to surf the net the CPU is running always at 100% usage... opening a second window will ...

Hello stedman, many thanx for your tip! I´ve tried several bios´ before, nearly flashing the board to death (it doesn´t wanted to boot right with the latest, I had tried as it was one of the oldest available ones... but I was able to fix it at last...)... Today I was trying out your jumper-tip and.....

Hello together, just digging out this thread again... I lately got a Biostar M5SAA for playing around a bit, unfortunately I flashed the latest BIOS and so I deleted the option to set FSB/DRAM to 133 Mhz :? Before this I got the board to boot with my K6-3+ @ 4x133 and 4,5x133 but it was hanging late...

Just wanted to point out that the ALI mini ide driver drops down the harddisk speed a lot, after kicking it from the harddisk, the NB seem to work much faster again and windows starts about 4times (!) faster than with ALI/ULI driver...

Hi again, just wanted to finish this point. It seems this NB has problems in using more than 256 MB of RAM, don´t ask me why. I found on the IPC support site the info about the sticks that can be used, I found some of them on Ebay with the right module organization and while BIOS and HWinfo32 showin...

Hi Jim, I did some more investigation and found out that the ALi Aladdin V chipset oviously supports only RAM-sticks (officially) that are double sided with 16 chips @ 256 MB... I´m going to catch some of them at next. But if this is so, I wonder why my notebook runs with one 256 8 chip stick anyway...

IPC Powernote - memory problems!

Hello together, the memory management of this notebook seems to be quite obscure. While the BIOS was able to recognize a 512 MB RAM stick, the NB wont run with it at all and fucked up with XP and Linux... So I installed 2x 256 MB RAM sticks and now the BIOS says again 512 MB but XP says 256... furth...

Ooops, I missed that... ok, let´s have a try. Today I got 2 sticks of 256 MB PC 133 RAM but I was running into another problem now. At first, one stick doesn´t fit right as the accu housing is in the way... ok, can be reworked. But after playing around with it for a while I checked another problem: ...
