Hello everybody, I tried two different additional 256 MB RAM sticks in the third (middle) slot, one Samsung and one Infineon. I also tried the different BIOS settings CL2 or CL3 and memory interleave at 2, 4 and 8 banks. Windows 7 wouldn´t start in any combination but hang at the Windows start-scree...

I gave Win 7 on Socket 7 a try yesterday! I have an unused rig sitting around here with an EPOX MVP3C2 Baby AT in it, that runs Win2K very fast and responsive. Built in I have 2 x 256 MB of CL2 SDRam, a K6III+ at 600 MHz, ATI 9200 AGP-graphics, 80 GB Seagate PATA HD connected to the onboard controll...

Hello Eric,

I just rebooted one of my MVP3G5 systems with 512 MB RAM. After the memory quick test there´s a break of 8 - 10 seconds.

I suppose the long break in your case might occur due to bios settings rather than the 768 MB RAM.

I had to use quite old ATI-drivers to solve the problem. Just for the record: "5-6_xp-2k_dd_cp_wdm_23864" work...

You´re right, Jim. Windows, applications and even drivers are more and more turning from software into bloatware. When hardware-resources used to be scarce, software had to be coded in an elegant and efficiant way to run properly. Today there´s CPU and graphicpower unlimited and software developers ...

Hello everybody, I just registered recently but have been reading here for many years. I´m a confessing K6(III)+ user myself till today and I just put two machines together using existing components as additional PCs for my office. You really can still use Socket7 systems today for surfing the inter...
