Crucial RAM wont work in a 503+

Don't ask me why but it doesn't. Oh yeah and I 've tried it myself. The best way I've found to get RAM that works is to go with 2 sticks of generic PC100 128 MB SDRAM, had much better luck with that. You may have to bump back to CAS 2 on the 503+ to get stability. Depending on the RAM.

Re: thanks

rdrdr, the ie lockups are typical of the problem. I noticed it especially when you do a vertical scroll on a page that has a lot of graphics or textured background. I eventually got it to the point where I could make it happen in 5 seconds. Try the USB disable and see if that helps.

Re: AGP

I might be able to help. I had a P5AB with a TNT2 Ultra for a while and had the extact same problem! There are 2 things that you can do about it(well 2 things that worked for me) :
1) Go with an AGP card that draws less current. GEFroce2 MX's seem well suited for this.
2) Try disabling USB in ...

Yup ...its a thorny issue but..

...those big media companies have got to be stopped. They've already ruined radio and TV (2 of the coolest inventions in history which are now totally useless) and are well on the way to ruining home computers and the internet. Here are a few more frightening links (mainstream ones too!) about relat...

I second that....

The 503+ might be the first MB of PC history worthy of classic status. Maybe we should do a 503+ tribute page here at the site?

Re: VA-503+ in a ATX box?

Yes it works like a champ. No issues at all. Also USB is not your only option as AT to PS2 adapters are plentiful also.

Re: ...

Speaking of creative...is there such a thing as Win2K drivers for the AWE64? Can't find anything like that on their website. Hard to believe that one of the most popular soundcards ever wouldn't have win2K driver support...

Re: MVP3/Radeon owners, upgrade to WinXP/2K! maybe

Thanks for the interesting benchmarks george. This is valuable info, especially since I've personally decided that the Radeon is the overall best card for SS7, at least on the 503+. It's pretty fast, even without AGP texturing and is far more stable than NVidia cards.
