Re: I think this depends on whether your AGP is 3.3v complia

Good point, but you know volts are only part of the story when it comes to power consumption. Both the 503+ and the P5 are late SS7 boards and both of them choked hard on the my creative TNT2 Ultra so I think that that’s definitely an upper bound on power for SS7 boards.

Re: How strong is your K6 faith?

Although I admit that my flesh is often weak my faith in the allmighty K6 is always strong. Let us bow our heads in rememberence of the allmighty $40 K63+ 450...... and let us look forward far into the future where we will find the promised land... .8 micron $40 per pair SMP 2GHz TBird+'s. Until the...

Any tips for improving 2D quality on Gainward card?

I just installed a Gainward Geforce2MX400 on this system and so far it seems fast and stable but when I turn up the resolution you can see a moving pattern of faint diagonal lines moving across the screen. Whats up with that? Any tips on getting rid of it? Thanks.

Jon

Don't do what I did, I got 3 degrees: 1 in math, 1 in physics and 1 in computer science. Now I know a little about everything but my head is too full to ever remember a whole lot about anything at once!

Re: I need a new video card

About the Radeons, I have a Radeon 32 DDR running on an MVP3 based MB and it been pretty good. There was some trouble with the ATI drivers conflicting with the VIA GART drivers but once you get past this the card works OK. Unfornately it doesn't seem like ATI drivers enable AGP texturing under Win9x...

That stories expired now but the way I remember it Intel, MS, IBM and AMD were supporting it..that pretty much means it's going to be a standard.

Re: having trouble enabling AGP texturing in direct-x

Wow whats up with that I always thought that AGP texturing was one of the big advantages of AGP..fast access to main memory and all that. Also with out the texturing working then why do we go through all this trouble with GART drivers when they're not even being used. Super lame.
