Jim, exactly what I asked the person who put me on to it, no answer. I went ahead and tried Rain10 (only), and it suits me fine. I just checked Speedfan, and my CPU temp is 25C, 80x80 fan at 943rpms - cool and quiet!

In fact, I put it on my Socket A rig too (also 98SE), and worked equally well.

Magnus, not "feeling any heat at all" when you touch the heatsink is not a good sign, especially at 2.3, etc. That can mean you're getting poor contact and reduced heat transfer to the sink. 37C? Anyone's guess, but I'd download free Speedfan to check the temps, not to mention check bios (?) for cpu...

I have the MVP3 chipset w/1mb cache. I'm very happy at 112 now. I'll try higher fsb when I get bored. From all I read one probably has to disable the L3 to move up, so I'll probably happily scamper back to 112. I just sold my Socket A rig, and this SS7 is giving me a little cheap fun until I figure ...

Good point Jim. The Ebayer seller didn't say his chips died shortly after shooting the moon with those voltages. I was seriously around SS7 forums when the + mobiles became hot stuff about 5 years ago. I recall all the folks talk about 667 and a few K6 III 550+s claiming 750+ (Bronx?). For al...

If you go by the comments in that Ebay link just above, not. Personally, I'd call 2.2 on the upper edge, but maybe ok if your temps are cool. Of course, you may be able to edge it down again too.

In this Ebay ad for your chip, which you may have seen, this seller gives various speed settings and voltages, indeed going as high as 2.4v (sounds suspect to me). See his cpu-z screen with 100x6 at 1.376v! Maybe you need to turn the juice down instead of up? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...

Magnus, be careful, I believe the 400+ ATZ is a 1.6v default chip, and you're possibly flirting with trouble , maybe above 2.1 or 2.2.

My 450+ ACZ has a 2.0v default, and most agree 2.2v is the max safe to run it. I'm at 112x5=560, 2.0v.

Makes me wonder if your PSU, ram,etc is up to the job?

Correction (I was Guest above) - that second try was 112x5=560. Works a charm. Still later I tried 112x5.5=616@2.1v. Booted fine, but wouldn't complete Windows. I'm not willing to disable L3 for 56 mhz gain. Using Rain10/98SE for neat cpu idle cooling. http://www.benchtest.com/downloads/index.html (...
