How to speed up the POST on MVP3G5@768 MB?

Hello together, as I found lately some time to play around with my socket 7 system again I wonder how to speed up the POST as the system takes a pause of about 30+ seconds after counting up the installed memory before it continues with the boot sequence... this is quite boring as I always have to wa...

Hello, this was a topic on several german forums before, too... they were trying to get a tm266 to run on a mvp3 board and it wasn´t running, the problem shouldn´t be only the missing microcode and bios support but also the 2,5v IO, too. Finally I wonder about the reason to get this cpu to run, as i...

Hello, just wanted to state that 384 MB may be fine, but be sure, the day comes you want to have more ;) My MVP3G5 runs very well with 768 mb. I´m using XP pro and it was awfully slow at 384 MB with FF3... surfing with 2 opened windows was getting awfully slow in short time as the RAM-usage was grow...

Hi Jeepster, even though I don´t care about the cacheable area of the mainboard anymore as I´m using a K6-3+ ;) I found out on another forum that this applies on all MVP3 boards as it depends on the chipset itself. Write Back should be a bit faster and uses one Bit as so called "dirty bit" while Wri...

Hello together, at first, try this link for some information: http://www.udo-richter.de/DFI/index.html As written there, the board won´t boot at any undocumented dipswitch-position... so 600 Mhz (6,0x100) should be the top speed of the board, at least seen from the hardware side, maybe some software...

Hi Tony, I tried the sticks one by one and found out, that the problem came from the Grafix card, I had build it in as well... as I switched back to my Rage Fury the machine was able to boot right at the first try, with 768 MB, cool :) Now it runs with the Elsa Gladiac too but I had to install the d...

Hello again, i´m still alive... ;) on Ebay I stumbled over an interesting bundle, apart from a Socket370 Board it contained 3 pieces Apacer 256 MB unbuffered double sided CL2 rams. I have put them into my board and it really counts the full memory. But there is something wrong with it, as it needs s...

Hello together, again ;) I did some overclocking and got the ATZ to run up to 616 Mhz so far (5,5x112), but I need already 2,4 volt to get him stable at this speed, but so far the temperature seems to be not -the- problem - under load (3D Mark) CPUCool shows up a max temperature of nearly 40 degrees...

Hi Jim, atm I didn´t thought to push the ATZ to 600 Mhz, 500 or 550 would be fine as well, I will see. To get the 450 ACR isn´t that cheap over here, as the only offered ones came from the US, others from China and to be honest, I wouldn´t pay about 50 Euros for a socket 7 cpu incl. shipping, I´m no...

Hello together, thanx for your tips, just a last question: what about the organisation of the memory chips on the ram sticks? The point is that I didn´t found as low density declared sticks over here in Germany on Ebay so far and I wont give away too much money just for fun... Even though I would ha...

Epox MVP3G5 K6-3+ and Tillamook compatibility

Hello together, on Ebay I stumbled over a K6-3+ 400 ATZ that I catched for 2,50 Euros, unfortunatly he wont run on my MVP3G5. Even if the seller said, the CPU was ok I hardly doubt that, as the CPU was really cocking after some seconds and the system wont boot up as all. I have installed the latest ...

How to get the MVP3G5 to run with more than 384 MB?!

Hello together, I was reading from time to time through this forum as I´m still hanging on my K6-collection. As I lately set up my MVP3G5 again as surf-machine for our daughter I wondered how to get the board to work with more than 384 MB RAM. I tried a few RAMs with 256 MB and even 512 MB capacity ...
