Re: Bios for VA-503+ to Run K6-III

Well it's the latest and greatest and that's usually a good thing (not always though..like with NVidia drivers). It supports larger drives than older BIOS's did and some people reported awhile back that IDE throughput was better with the recent 503+ BIOS's also.

Re: Bios for VA-503+ to run K6-III

+ series or not the the JE4333 bios is still probably your best bet. Of course you'll need to flash with the old chip in if the MB won't recognize the K63 now. You can find the new BIOS's on the FAQ here .

Re: PROBLEMS WITH SHUTDOWN VA-503+, K6III+,BIOS JE4333.

Hey wmrrivera, what OS are you running? If it's Win98 you have to setup Win98 with PNP BIOS support disabled. This has the wanted side effect of forcing Win98 to not use ACPI which should get your system running.

Re: does anyone know the power draw of a radeon VE ddr 32meg

io I've been running a Radeon 32 DDR(non VE) in my 503+ for about 6 months and apart from the texturing thing it did well although the driver install always was a bit hairy. I just put a ASUS 7700 GTS in tonight though..so far so good.....and I got texturing back!! Yipppeeee!!!

What's the highest end vid card used successfully on a 503+?

Anyone try a GEForce2 GTS or Ultra? Is there life on the 503+ past the GEForce2MX? Can the old FIC handle the 9watts?

Re: hmmm

I said the thing about the power because of "(especially when it comes to SS7 current supply issues) " in the first post. Current draw is always a big concern with AGP and SS7. Yeah I think that we're going to keep bugging ATI until they fix their drivers or tell us to go buy NVidia cards!...

Re: ?

george, I've been running an Radeon 32 DDR AGP in my 503+ for about 6 months and have had no problems with voltage. A few of us Radeon people have found that the Windows drivers for win9x don't seem to support AGP texturing though. apperently AGP texturing does work fine in Win2k. We have high hopes...

Yeh I love how in these types of situations they never tell you why you're supposed to be doing all that stuff in that particular order. Seems like it would be easier just to say such and such dll id screwed up replace it with this one...but no no no noone can admit fault so we must all pretend to d...
