Superpuppy-2 is still causing me problems. There seem to be two distinct issues. One is that when booted cold, i.e. when the machine hasn't run for a few hours, it takes three and occasionally 4 boots for it to get through post and the other startup routines and boot into windows. I had this proble...

DonPedro, your P5S-VM performance is outstanding. :) Could you please post a WPCredit register dump for your setup. Thanks!

Jim, here is what I know: >BIOS Patcher is a work in progress. Some versions are specifically targeted to work with and/or are more compatible with older or newer hardware, chipsets, motherboards, etc. I believe the version 6.00 revisions are designed to have limited capability for patching AMI BIOS...

Here's a demonstration of how the BIOS patcher is activated.... 1.) choose the BIOS file you want to patch. I picked the KA6100 BIOS version 610011E.BIN which is the final one made for the PCB revision 1.2 boards. I don't know what PCB revision your board is, you may need BIOS version 610011D.BIN if...

kalabok, do you use the onboard video on your ALI 7 boards or a PCI graphics card? If you do use a PCI graphics card, what do you use?

BTW, check your PM.

Jim, what motherboard is in this machine? Do you have chipset drivers installed for Win98?
This is very strange.

I like the Asus P5S-VM myself, seems a little more user friendly at 133FSB than the GA-5SMM and has a jumper to disable onboard video. I couldn't run the Soyo SIS530 board at 133FSB, at least the one I have couldn't do it.

Jim, I've got the files you need on my computer at home...I'm at work right now. Running the Biospatcher is pretty simple and I can walk you through it. I've used it several dozen times just to experiment. You should run it on a very stable machine, not overclocked or it can corrupt the patched Bios...

I've have a Logisys 575W PSU powering my XP3200 rig for about 6 months with no problems. It is SLI capable and you can't beat the price.

Otherwise I would choose the Coolermaster.

 Get well soon Jim. I'm very sorry to learn about your accident.

I've been abit too busy myself lately to tinker with the machines. With the nice weather my wife has me doing home improvement projects and my 3 year old boy always keeps me stepping.

I've been running various video benchmark applications for the last week using different memory ranges & Write Combining settings with no noticable performance increase. This was done with a Radeon 8500. Maybe this card doesn't take advantage of Write Combining? I'm going to try a different vide...

Here's an old article regarding the performance features of the CXT core K6 CPU's: http://www.aceshardware.com/read.jsp?id=15000166 I use Rawpower to setup Write Combining on Win9x machines that don't have BIOS support for this. In my opinion the performance gain with Write Combining enabled is negl...

I'll check the pll on the P561A when I get home from work.

Nice job flashing the Winfast BIOS on the PcChips Board. :)
Are you using the Winbond RAM on this board?

If I remember right, the 3D Rage Pro wasn't known for it's 3D prowess but did have outstanding 2D in it's time.

Can't really find much info on it but this is interesting:
