I don't know what K6 (II+, III+, Cyrix, etc...) are like temp wise running full on. I do know they take a reasonable about of voltage stock, so looking at the voltage and the heat output of say an Athlon XP that I am familiar with and kind of go from there Well for example, a K62-500 @ 2.2v using a...

Re: Heatsinks?

So what are the best heatsinks to get for a (super) socket 7 motherboard? Do most socket A/370 coolers work on 7 boards? The biggest/badest thing that will fit that mobo! Personally, I go for nice meaty PIII/Athlon Class heatsinks... though the beastie below (Thermo-Engine) is even BETTER...

I usually find such stuff @ swapmeets (enthusiast flea markets), eBay, people tossing out their old PC gear/upgrading OR in the clearance bin @ a PC builder's store ;) Speaking of which... I may soon inherit a 80386 class system as part of an upgrade exchange deal for one of my refurbished PC's (1Gh...

I've used Central Tweaking Unit (CTU) successfully before on Intel chipsets with CeleronA's, I dunno' what else it would work on but it was reasonably straight forward to use ;)

It can be found in our downloads section, or simply click HERE to download :D

RE: Stabilty

I've used HOTcpu a little before (I like the GUI), but generally test (overnight) with either Prime95 or SiSoft Sandra's burn-in suite ;) Primarily I'm testing the physical stability of the motherboard(s) 'post-op' (replacing capacitors) so longer duration stability tests are my need/focus :D BTW go...

RE: Finally got it going!

I had a later revision of that particular board, and though it is possible to run Simm & Dimm memory modules concurrently it is generally discouraged due to their differing voltage requirements ;)

Well... the seller is attempting to recover as much cash as possible for their item... personally, when I sell a motherboard (or anything really) I calculate the auction so it finishes on a Friday/Saturday night when the internet & auction sites seem to have the highest traffic ;)

Yes... I've been a regular over there lately ;)

BTW I totally understand why your looking towards a larger more powerful PSU, not quite 'future proofing' but hopefully something that will fulfill your needs for some time :)

LMAO 90% of my eBay purchases are done in the remaining 30 seconds of the auction (leaves the winning bidder with a false sense of security)... so I guess that makes me a 'last minute Louie' though to be honest I prefer the title bidding sniper :D I can't believe that a slot1 motherboard fetched suc...

RE: Power Supply for AthlonXP

I'm afraid I can't recommend a dual rail PSU from experience... my last purchase for the 3700+ /939 Neo2 Platinum combo was a Codegen 550w (Which I've since recapped) Seasonic have always made robust quality PSU's IMHO, whilst I've heard really positive things about the Tagan and Enermax units, have...

I shall await (with baited breath) the outcome of this endeavour :D
