If it comes to USB 2.0 controller - always avoid Via! VT6212L, VT6214L don't work at all with PCI 2.1, VT6202 (old version) does, but the performance is pitiful. Ali's known for incompatibility, so the only reasonable chioce is NEC. Try to find a NEC card with possible latest revision, they're beli...

goto device manager / system devices / cpu-to-agp bridge: this driver is to be exchanged manually, one should use the driver for "pci standard-pci-to-pci bridge". That's simply running the card pci mode via the agp slot. Might be usefull if the problem is due to agp texturing or not enoug...

I'm quite a fan of cs4630 based soundcards as the turtle beach santa cruz or terratec sixpack 5.1+ (as I have in other build), they have an unbeatable sound quality in stereo (true 5.1 cant be done with ds3d, only 4.0). Honestly, I prefer it to my audigy2 which sounds too harsh. But for gaming they ...

I'm currently using an ide samsung spintpoint that is limited to the ata33 bandwidth so I grabbed from ebay one of those cheap cards with aVT6214L plus VT6421A. A 4 port usb 2.0 controller (my pci card will go out), and raid capable ata133 ide port, plus one internal sata and an eSata (all 1.0). I h...

Thanks for your effort in sorting chipsets out, it will surely prevent a lot of headaches. I wonder if that user had some misconfiguration as running in pci mode or with agp texturing off, who knows. I guess it sorts out being a simple agp driver problem specific to a chipset too.

I've already did, tried on a gf2gts/fx5200/vanta lt PCI and not sure if I tested it too on a TNT1. It's a no go as said above. I tried up to 71.89 which were the last ones to officially support tnt (via extra the supplied *.inf). 3m01 always crashes with a blue screen but glquake or q3 still runs. B...

It could be useful in the sense that almost no shader 3.0 stuff will be used as most video functions you can use in programs such as mpc are ps2.0 only (available from middle 4x. series and on). And by the same way, it would be rare to find a game playable on a k6 system that would use more advanced...

You can still edit the inf so that you can install older drivers with more recent cards. I guess some suport for advanced features will be lost, but you can try it nevertheless. In my experience 44.03 and 45.23 where the most stable all round with mvp3 chipsets. Later 60's would crash with d3d, and ...

My mobo does a similar stuff: after one of those reboots with shortened post it resets after the bypassed memory count and enters a loop. The solution was to set it to 2 way bank interleave instead of 4 way. The strange stuff is that it's perfectly stable at 4 (12h prime blend, etc).

Unfortunately my baby-atx hot-591p hasn't temp monitoring, but I'm using an old Coolermaster DP5-6I31C-A1 (http://www.SPAM/images/dp5-6i31c.jpg ) with an old socket 7 clip that keeps it exactly in place. The original one was dangerously strong, so I replaced it. It's 6x8x4cm with a 6cm fan support, ...
