james, don't waste your time with trying to get a nvidia card modell 6xxx and up running on a ss7-board when it comes to dx 8 or 9. as I have tried to tell you in a previous post in this thread there is no way to achieve this. for a card 6xxx (and up) you need driver version 6x.xx (and up) and here ...

james, remember this driver does not support cards later than fx 59xx, so your 6200 is not supported. but that is not bad at all, since you will do very fine with a 5700 or 59xx card. you also would not take a performance hit, because according to tests I have done the k6 cpu is too much a limit her...

sure james, just pm me your e-mail address. does your provider allow emails of 10mb size? anyway: you can try to connect to XXX where you will find the files in question. the machine running the server-service will not be up later than 01.00 am (central european time). it will be on tomorrow again d...

james, what driver version are you using with your nvidia card? I have found out that using driver version above 5x.xx WILL always result in big problems (system unstable, bsod, etc.) latest and best driver for nvidia cards is 52.16 (main caveat: you can only "drive" cards up to fx 5950. c...

I don't know of how to mod the bios but maybe you will be fine using wpcrset which, after being programmed accordingly, will automatically set the paramaters to your liking at windows start.

the asus board is well known for its stability re using any kind of ram .... also I would suggest installing a pci-ide add-on card like a promise 100/133 + Digitus DS-33151 SATA to IDE Adapter. with that combo you can mount any sata drive you want and boot from it for more information on using sata-...

Jolaes76, your numbers seem to be ok, but unfortunately you started with raising fsb to 110 mhz so I can't tell you how well you are doing, I only have numbers to compare with at 100 mhz. so please start from there and once you maxed out tweaking you could raise fsb again. one thing is obvious from ...

hello, re what benchmarks to use: some benefit of available cache, others don't. for example, everest home 2.20 shows better read/write scores when cache is disabled. while for example compression tools like 7-zip and winrar LOVE cache (both feature inbuilt benchmark routine, so you can see for your...

I tried for years to find a sis530-board with 1 or 2 mb of onboard cache but with no success. @hmbr: I can't imagine any system (even the new ones) running windows xp with only 128mb of ram satisfactorily - this is way too short of memory. BUT: once you use a k6-3 or k6-2+ cpu you do fine with their...

tetrium,

when you are looking for an agp-card with lots of vram (256mb) and low on energy consumption look for nvidia fx 5700 cards. they fit perfectly with socket-7 technology (as long as you use no driver version above 5x.xx, ie avoid 6x.xx and above at all costs).

mikemix, thanks for the update. Seems to be a very efficient ide-implementation on that tx-II pro chipset (sis 5597/98). I just found a website giving a lot of information about mb-chipsets, cpus, graphic-chipsets. especially what is written in the notes under the various tables given there one will...
