RE: It Lives

The missing pin is like a keyway (for the original fitment P/S2 header) naturally 3 of those 7 pins are redundant ;) I don't follow what you mean about 'this' 18 ATX pin form card connector? AFAIK there should only be one place able to sustain a P/S2 connector for the mouse on any given motherboard ;)

AFAIK the only difference in PS/2 mouse wiring is the configuration of the pins, 4/5/6 doesn't matter as only 4 are utilized... 1) Data 2) GND 3) 5v + 4) CLK The last mobo I had to wire a PS/2 adapter to (without a wiring diagram) required me to dismantle the mouse to establish the 5 volt and ground...

Death of a Retro Gaming Rig...

Recently instability issues began to plague my Epox EP-MVP3C2 (remaining SS7) motherboard, RAM checked out fine with Memtest86, CPU, PSU & GFX were all fine too... so I replaced all the nasty Tayeh capacitors I could find... After I finished, it was better but still wouldn't pass Prime95 or SiSo...

RE: [WTB] replacement micro-ATX MoBo for K6-2+

Greetings Nihno , I too had this very issue with an IBM Aptiva 2187 series system, the motherboard in my case uATX was an IBM263pro, which for all intensive purposes would also fit your system and support K6x processors. I was unfortunately unlucky in my endeavour to find a replacement and instead p...

RE: End of an Era - Upgrade bug bites bad...

Well the EPOX/550 will retain the retro gaming title, but unfortunately Windows will stop supporting 2K, ME & XP in the forseeable future (much as they've done with 3.1/95/98 ) as they move onto 64Bit OS's :( Heavy gaming? not really... primarily RTS is my bag, but 64Bit processing has an irresi...

End of an Era - Upgrade bug bites bad...

Well, a time comes in all technologies' life when it's sent off to greener pastures... so it should be no shock that I'm parting with a majority of my SS7 & retro collection (courtesy of Flea-bay), I will retain the VA-502 Linux firewall (MII powered) and perhaps the MVP3C2 & K62-550 but eve...

Re: IBM Aptiva 450MHz AMD

Are IBM/Lennovo ashamed or shy about the above machine. They seem to nearly bypass 2199 altogether. To be completely honest, it's hard finding details on most IBM systems in the era, mine was purchased in bulk by an Australian Bank (and their employees as a package deal), all of which AFAIK were th...

Something using a C-Media chip would use less resources than an SB chip. I know what you mean, back when I used my K62-500 everyday (for everything) I noted the poor performance (read as lag) watching DVD's with my ISA soundblaster 32AWE (which I still have BTW :P), using a PCI soundcard mad...

RE: My mom is pretty good at killing

Last resort... tell your Mom she killed the HDD too, are the safety features enabled in the BIOS of your Mom's computers to shut down on fan failure overheating etc.?
