A K6-3+ 450 ACZ should do just as well as a K6-3+500 ACZ. These are VERY overclockable processors, up to about 600 MHz. After that it gets a bit trickier, with individual processor quality, cooling considerations, etc. all playing a part. Good quality RAM is a VERY good idea too. DO NOT USE "Bu...

Yeah, well I never go with newish technology. Tend to stick with Proven technology, - Like K6-3 Plus's, - which I STILL use. Might cost the odd extra buck, but at least you KNOW it's going to work.

Well, I bought the processor for the new machine. Cost me $827.00 including import duties. It is an Intel socket 775 core 2 Extreme qx9770 3.2 GHz Quadcore with a 1600 MHz FSB. To go with it I picked up two 2 Gig sticks of "G Skill" RAM with a 1600 MHz FSB and 2,3,2,5 timing. Problems star...

RE: Bad Time To Be Buying HDDs

And thanks to Soyoboy for telling me that WD "Caviar Blues" are NFG; cause those were the ones I bought !! - All they had in the 320 Gig size I wanted.

Nah, I bought 5 for my newest contraption, (2 Internal & 1 in a Hot Swap Tray; - with 2 more in additional Hot Swap Trays to sustitute in for the mounted 1). They turned out to be pretty bad, so I returned them and bought 5 more, NOT any better.

Bad Time To Be Buying HDDs

I recently bought 10 NEW WD SATA 2 320 GB drives, and tested 7 of them with TESTHDD, which is available in the downloads section here. Of the 7 tested, ONE tested GOOD, and all the rest had either a considerable amount of "Sector Damage" or very LOW Read Speeds, as compared to the ONE GOOD...

I am not sure where you will find the threads on that subject here, but there have been a few posted by people who are much more knowledgeable on the subject than I am. The key factor is "Low Density" RAM is required. As for your notebook it may be running at half the installed RAM value. ...

RE: IPC Powernote - memory problems!

I can't say for sure what your notebook wants, but with K6-3+ mobos quite often what you need is "Low Density" double sided RAM. If for example you were to stick a single sided RAM stck in a Super 7 board, what will usually happen is the board will only recognize the stich as being 1/2 its...

Have resumed work on my new HP machine. Have obtained two 2 Gig sticks of G Skill Ripjaws 1600 MHz DDR 3 RAM for it, 2,3,2,5 Timing stuff, that should speed up XP somewhat. Have also ordered 3 x WD 320 Gig SATA 2 HDDs for it. Also got a "Scythe Rasetsu" CPU cooler for it. Still have to get...

Dr Swiss said that you could use Windopes to make another partition, (that would only be accessible from within Windopes), and use the rest of your drive that way.

RE: What HDD manager to skip the BIOS restriction in HDD siz

You can usually download an "Overlay" program from the HDD manufacturers site that will let you get around this limitation. Apart from that the only way I know to solve the problem is update the bios to a version that recognizes larger HDDs.

RE: Asus P55T2P4 - Battery down :(

Probably the : capman@att.net could fix it for you; BUT I've no idea what it would cost. Ideally you could have him remove the battery from the board; and substitute a battery holder that could take replaceable batteries of the same voltage specification. You could try emailing the capman to see wha...

RE: IPC Powernote G795 with K6-3+?!

Jan Steunebrink could do the bios. What you should do is go to his site, and see if there is ANY bios available for whatever Mobo is in the thing that will support a K6+.

One other word of advice; - use the 5.5 times multiplier. That will give you much higher memory write speed than either the 5 times or the 6 times.
