OK, I've managed to acquire a 2.2volt Cyrix MII-400 thanks to a tip from kalabok. It's clocked at 285Mhz (95x3) but easily does 300Mhz (100x3) so far for me on a FIC PA-2013. I've also got a later build K6-2 300 CXT core that I'm going bench for comparison. Any suggestions for benchmark programs to ...

Nice find indeed! I just recently acquired 2 older E-machine minitowers that were being thrown out at work. Not much worth salvaging except the cases, floppy drives and CDrom drives. I also am always on the lookout for hidden treasure. :) EDIT: I just identified the motherboards in both boxes as Del...

Thanks. :) KachiWachi, have you ever compared the performance of your MII433 with an equally clocked K6-2? How about overclocking, can it run at 333Mhz? I'd like to get one of those to experiment with but the 433 appears to be very rare. I've seen alot of MII350's and some MII366's but that's about ...

I thought I was the only one with problems here. :o Does your new RAM still have problems even when your not overclocked? Have you tried them with the CAS latency set to 3? Can you tell us the numbers that are on the memory chips? They may be the key to why you have problems. Looks like you better h...

Yes, all the partitions are formatted FAT32. Never tried the defrag trick with NTFS on the XP partition so I can't say that will work or not. My understanding is NTFS and FAT32 are incompatible but FAT16 and NTFS are compatible.

Jim, I have a CD I got free from Microsoft a few years ago that contains about 95% of the updates needed after a clean Windows98 install. It's got updates for IE 6.0, media player and most of the security updates. It really speeds things up for me. I can burn you a copy if you want to try it. The na...

That is a very efficient way you organized your menus. I may have to adopt something similar for my rigs. :) BTW, what I do on my dual-boot Win98SE/WinXP machines is I'll put the swapfiles for each OS on a separate partition at fixed sizes. The native defrag software works good enough for me. First ...

Have you ever used JV16 Powertools? The registry cleaner is alot easier to use but doesn't find nearly as many errors as Registry First Aid. The freeware version 1.3 is what I use. Newer versions are shareware.
Get it here:

That's a very good idea with the manual. It is nowhere to be found on the net. I would probably need to photocopy the pages of the manual and then scan then into images. I have an old scanner at home, haven't used it in years, not sure if it still works but I'll check into it. No, I haven't found an...

I just recently started to play with Mozilla Firefox and I like it.:) It seems more efficient and snappy. I haven't put it on any K6 rigs yet but probably will in the future, still using IE on them.

I think the Radeon 8500 or the Radeon 9100 run really well on socket 7 boards but there are a few boards that won't work with them.

OK, I finally found a manual for the P561A. It actually came with a brand new P561A I found on Ebay. Nothing in the manual really sheds much light on the operation of this board beyond what I've already learned but there are a few interesting things printed in there; Product Description The P561A is...
