Hi DrSwizz, yep, he finished the installation right and runs without problems (just need a proper driver for the soundcard then) - XP recognized all devices properly, even the ATI Rage Mobility M... But now the next question: what about the other unused 60 GB?! I wonder if it could make problems wit...

Hi DrSwizz, after uncounted failed tries I matched it today to get the installation routine run properly after I´ve made a 20 GB partition on the HDD and left the rest unpartitioned... so far it seems to run as he copies the files properly so far... Furthermore I got a bios update that recognizes th...

What HDD manager to skip the BIOS restriction in HDD size?

Hello together, as I don´t get my 80 GB HDD to run correctly on my IPC Powernote500 I wonder, what possibilities I have to make it possible anyway? The biggest HDD-size in the BIOS seems to be something around 65 GB, this suggests it can be use more, but it doesn´t want to do it. I always get severa...

Hi, unfortunately the Lappy wont support 512 MB RAM sticks really, I don´t get XP installed with such sticks. So I tried with the original 64 MB stick only and I had success... building in the 512 MB stick I don´t get XP to boot correctly, just one time I reached the desktop in save-mode, but finall...

Hello together, unfortunately it seems as I have flashed the board to death  I tried several award-flash-utilities but the most just crashed, finally I used the pflash-utility, I remember I´ve read about this one to be used together with this board somewhere. With this utility I was able to f...

Asus P55T2P4 - Battery down :(

Hello together, I just wanted to build up another retro machine around this mobo but the battery is empty and soldered to the board. Is there any chance to fix this without too much work?! I stumbled through different older threads on the net and it seems to be quite tricky? Just asking as I don´t w...

Hi Jim, I already wrote to Jan Steunebrink and I hope he´s still doing patches. On his page there is not board like this one listed. It seems that it is an Alphatop G795 revision 2.1, interestingly a sticker aside of the BIOS chip tell´s me that the board features a Phoenix Pentium 2 Special A BIOS....

IPC Powernote G795 with K6-3+?!

Hello together, I´ve shoot a quite rare laptop on Ebay lately, the mentioned Powernote by IPC. It is a Powernote500, that means it was equipped with a K6-2 500. As it features a 14,1" display I´m going to replace my odd P3 notebook with it, just because it is a lot freakier  The first ...

Hi Cokai, I know that such comparisons always depend on the used applications or games, but I remember a page that said, a K6-3 400 would perform nearly 4times better than an odd P233 MMX in multi-thread. I doubt it is that much faster, but if you say twice at fast it could match half way... The P23...

Hello again... I think Rain wont run on my system as I have installed XP, the problems I mentioned above obviously came from some false memory options I took in the bios. Since I switched off the bank interleave option the system runs stable again. So my system is again up and running and since I ha...

Hello again, atm there is something wrong with my system as it freezes from time to time, I´m running my ATZ @ 2,2 Volt atm. I doubt that the freezes came from the cpu as it doesn´t matter on what speed and voltage I´m running it. I´m still on the hunt for the error... Apart from this I guess the 40...

Hi, as far as I know there are several boards that came along with more than 512 KB cache, just as the PC Chips 598LMR and 599LMR, the Soyo 5SSM or the Matsonic MS6380SG. Those were available with 1 MB cache too or even only. The problem is that they are damn hard to find... at least here in Germany...

I still have a Voodoo 2 SLI setup with two Diamond Monster 3D 2 with 12 MB each and selfmade SLI cable... they were running like hell, unfortunately the setup under XP is quite tricky, so they´re laying aside untill I setup a new machine for using them. I guess my whole socket 7 cpu collection isn´t...
