Hi Jim,
I always wanted to build a dual PPro 1MB cache system. But I have this 486 setup to work on yet, so I'll have to pass on that board for now. Thanks for the offer though! I'll keep it in mind. What board is it, by the way?

486 (Socket 3) mobo w/ PCI wanted
I made this same post on ocforums.com, just FYI. That's right! An OLD 486 board that supports an AMD 5X86 133Mhz CPU is wanted. CPU does NOT have to be included (although that would be cool). I used to have an old ASUS PVI-486SP3, it had a SIS chipset, 3 PCI slots, a VLB slot and 3 or 4 ISA slots. I...

Is this RAM considered "low density"?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300212360552&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=020 Hi guys, I need (2x) 256MB SDRAM modules, and I am not sure if the RAM listed above is high or low density. I assume a K6III+ on a Sis530 platform requires low density, but I am not su...

DonPedro, Very generous of you, re the ATI player. However, I did that project about 2003-2004, and moved on a few months after that to just watching DVDs (from time to time) on my Sempron setup instead. I'm actually sorry that I got rid of the Sigma card, though. I should have kept it. But it's wat...

DonPedro, That would be excellent, if the BIOS can be modified to understand the 512MB modules correctly. I'm in process of building a machine that will need 512MB, and although I could certainly stick with two 256MB modules, I'd rather do a single larger one instead, if anyone suggest it is perfect...

DonPedro, I just got around the pass thru cable of the Sigma card by just using the S-video out to a TV instead of trying to watch on a monitor. Also, I tried to get an ATI Radeon 7000 card to work on the FIC-PAG2130 using WinDVD 4, but could never get it to work. Long story. So I never got to see t...

jpnjim, I tried very very hard to get a 600Mhz K6-II+ setup with 384MB of RAM to playback DVD on a Win2K machine. I used an Nvidia Riva 128 card, and it was very close to working without hickups. but invariably, it would NOT work perfectly. I was using a VIA MVP4 chipset with settings to the absolut...

I looked through this thread briefly a few days ago, but there was so much info, I basically forgot most of what's here. One thing I did notice on a GA-5SMM is that the Quick start manual states that it supports 133Mhz (nothing new) BUT...using a 33Mhz PCI clock! That's unusual. And very good. I'm k...

Let me give one more reason why I like the K6. It might seem lame, but hey, it's my opinion. It looks cool! It looks better than Intel's simple repetitive purple proc by adding a cool aluminum heat spreader. The heat spreader on engineering samples was really cool, opting for a black anodized alumin...

I'll tell you why I like AMD K6. I made a system based on one back in 1997 or so when it first came out. It was a 266Mhz model that I slightly underclocked to 250Mhz/100Mhz FSB. It was great. So one reason I like the K6, even today, is just plain nostaligia. Another reason is that the K6 is actually...

Questions about SiS530 based Gigabye GA-5SMM
"512mb ram-module (low density, 32Mx8 organization)" 1.) Was this ever discovered to work? A 512MB module on one slot? 2.) Also, I went through all 13 pages on one of the threads regarding this mobo, but honestly, it was too much for me to take in. Can someone just give me the bottom line...

Regular K6-III and TX chipsets - Disable L3 cache?
Hi guys, Thinking about a TX chipset mobo and a regular K6-III 400. If I remember correctly, I thought it was perfectly fine idea to disable the mobo's onboard cache. The reason I'm thinking of this is to eliminate the TC chipset's 64MB performance limit. If I remember correctly, the TX chipset decr...
