I am writing this message from my computer running a K6-III+500 @ 600MHz (4.5x133). The board is a Gigabyte GA5SMM revision 1.2 with the aforementioned SIS530 chipset. It is running as steady as a rock. Just performed Superpi 1M and got 4min 51 secs. Everest home memory scores of Mem read 402 Mem wr...

K6-2+

Eric, If K6-3+ are expensive then try for a K6-2+. These are usually a lot cheaper to buy and the performance hit is usually in the order of 5% for the same clock speed. A K6-2+ at 600MHz should perform about the same as a K6- III at 550MHz. All K6 plus cpu's I have reach 550 MHz at 2.0v and a lot o...

hynix ram on ebay uk

Moondog,

Try this ebay listing 120637654482. these are cl2 low density hynix pc133 sdrams. Cost about 6 euros each. They are normal power but they will work real good at very aggressive memory timings. he has over ten of them to sell.

High density vs low density

Eric, To enable 256mb sticks to work you need to use low density ram modules. High density sticks will only register as 128mb. As Jim states above usually double sided 256mb rams will be low density, but this is not always the case. Try to find CL2 sticks if possible as you can speed up the memory s...

look at the P5A reference cpu two lines below his score with the aladdinV chipset with memory at 66Mhz!!. I would say that you need to check the read score using Everest Home 2.20. Further down the list it gives a score of 128 for the MVP3 chipset on a Epox MVP3GM board with memory at 100Mhz. Clearl...

The K6+ embedded processors did not have any specific markings to say that they were embedded such as an E mark. Basically there were a number of K6-3+ cpu's that were used as embedded processors. They were differentiated as high powered and low powered versions. So for instance the K6-3+/400ATZ is ...

Before I go looking to cool with a peltier I will try the Epox MVP3G2 board I have which I know will run 112fsb with no problems. At least with this board I can check temperatures at 618 @ 103 and 112 fsb speeds. Using a CAK38 on this board a K6 3plus cpu runs at about 35C at 600MHz plus.

I have the clamp for the water block now. I have tried some of the K6 3plus chips I have but have not found one yet that will post at 667Mhz at 2.3V or below. Jim, The apacer ram I have is single sided 256mb and is most likely high density ram. No problems for my GA-6OXET board but most likely is only recognised as 128mb by a lot of older boards. They probably made some of the stuff as low density sticks too as I seem to remember that the apacer pc100 sti...

Jim, the results are good. I reckon that the PIII-s 1400 chip I have should run at 1750 @ 1.6 to 1.65v. this will get the PI score a bit lower. I might try to get a PIII-s 1133 chip with the B step. At 200fsb this chip will max out at 1700Mhz which could be interesting. You never know the memory mig...
