What's up with the K6 PLus Seti@Home team?

What's up with the K6 PLus Seti@Home team?

Post by tazwegion »

I see from the team's link some people are still contributing... so I'd assume everyone (who's still active) is running BOINC without issue also?

Personally I couldn't get BOINC to work, (so I kept running Classic) has it improved @ all? and are you still interested in recruiting new team members?

I'm still running the classic client. Never tried BOINC. Looks like we're going to have to switch over though. This is from SETI@home news:

"November 15, 2005
The old SETI@home Classic project will stop issuing work on December 15, 2005. Anyone still running SETI@home Classic should deactivate it and install SETI@home/BOINC (see instructions under 'Getting started' on this page)."

Hmmm... that's what I was worried about, there didn't seem to be much in the way of WU's around when I attempted to get Seti-BOINC running, considering any other project in it's place Nohr?

Well I was planning on just sticking with Seti myself. I guess I'll have to see how the BOINC client works at some point (can't say I'm in a big rush either..).

I'm not too sure what else is out there right now. There's Folding@Home and Distributed.net but neither of those really appeal to me.

Boinc has a lot more projects than just Seti and my client didn't appear to have any probs retrieving WUs when I installed it today.

Other than Boinc I think United Devices is still around ;)

I don't suppose BOINC works with SetiQueue?

Ah well, SetiQueue was nice while it lasted. Guess it's one less thing for my server to run now, heh.

Well Cake I'm glad you could get BOINC to run appropriately... I kept getting project deferment messages  I followed their posted guide too... perhaps it's because I'm on dial-up?

Perhaps there's some tip & tricks you could post to assist the potential S@H user over to BOINC? ;)

Think my ease may be due me having given the Boinc client a spin earlier.
I just attached to the Seti project with the provided URL, and setting up the login with my mail address and account key.
Have you checked the connection settings in Boinc manager?
Got any more specific messages from Boinc?

No not really.... I can't recall much more than I've stated... I gave it a week & nothing, so I went straight back to Classic ;)

I remember setting the project url & login details, but when I asked around... I was informed that there wasn't as many S@H WU's to be shared out as there used to be :)

@ Tazwegion: Have you given the Boinc client a spin recently?
@ Nohr: Check out the add-ons for Boinc, like this one http://predictor.scripps.edu/download_network.php
