"MS" Update

I find it is becomming increasingly more difficult to "Update" Windopes 98-SE. Went to do that tonight; and ran into quite a few problems. First, whenever I logged into their site, about 6 times out of 7, I was getting a message to the effect : "Thankyou for your interest in our site; but you should go to the 'MAC Users site', this site is for the users of Windopes."
Every 7th time or so, I would get the Windopes Update site, but then I was having difficulty getting it to work properly. Part of the problem there, is I have to "Update" Windopes 98-SE to some extent before I can load the video card drivers, for my ATI aiw 9000 Pro, or else I get an error message, and the video card driver load fails. It is quite difficult to get the "MS" update site to function properly when you are using 16 colours and 480x640 resolution. They have some of the buttons located off screen; and I found it to be impossible to bring them onscreen.
What I wound up doing was taking a list of all the updates recommended, then searching my old stash of "Update" files to see if I had any of them. Had some of them, and installed them, which turned out to be enough to get my video card driver installed, which in turn allowed me to get the rest of them. Would recommend that anyone still running 98SE get a hold of a complete set of all the "Updates" and keep them against the day when they are no longer available at all. (Typical Moronpoop pressure tactics, BUY Vista!!)
What I did, and recommend, is simply the next time you have occasion to do an install and update, is before you do the "Update", use MS Clean Manager to clean out all your temporary internet files, then after updating, open MS Clean Manager again, and click the view files button, then browse through the temporary internet download folders looking for the "MS Update" download files; and cut and paste them into safe keeping elsewhere.
