Seti membership up to 18 now
Watch out Nohr their after you. Especially Jonnywizard, he seems to be climbing up the ladder in a hurry.
We even have a shy no-name, maybe its someone who has a *ntel system as is to embarassed to come out of the closet.

Re: Seti membership up to 18 now
Yeah I've been watching everyone. Jonnywizard is the only one who appears to be gaining, but it'll take months for him to catch up. When TrunchBull joined I was a bit worried at first, but they aren't able to keep up. Cake was at one time able to get within 70 wus of me, but after he lost his work computers he's fallen behind. As for our newest member, grahamv, I'll have to wait and see. Thanks to him joining our team is now over 4000 wus.

And to think that at one time Mr Toast was at the top of the team with a huge lead.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz@1.35GHz (9x150)
Iwill KK266
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 5-2-2
Gainward GeForce3 Ti200 4ns 234/530
Gateway EV910 19" monitor (1600x1200 .26mm)
Seagate Barracuda IV 40GB 7200rpm
Lite-On 24/10/40 CD-RW | Asus 40x CD-ROM | Toshiba 16x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Professional

I'll get there someday.

I bet I just contributed the most inefficient SETI work unit in the history of this team.

The WinChip-240 in the back room just completed a unit in a screaming fast <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> 189 hours. Yes, that's my name. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

The WinChip is running the screensaver version. It's on Windows 95a and I don't think 95a can run command-line SETI. Still, SETI really exposes just how bad that chip's FPU is. It took 189 hours to do a work unit. My old PPro-233 took about 89, so we can say a Pentium Pro had an FPU more than twice as powerful.

Funny thing is, that chip is faster than a P233MMX at integer operations. Noticeably faster. I use it for surfing the Web on DSL and I can barely tell the difference between it and an Athlon. Why they couldn't make the FPU just decent is beyond me. They would have sold a lot more chips.

I never upgraded the Winsock, which I guess explains why it didn't work. I'll have to do that and get that mighty WinChip to cruch Seti in a mere 45 hours instead of 189. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

I've got a K6-III+ 550 not running right now (long story on that one). Re: ...
ha! i have a winchip2@200Mhz. I don't think it EVER completes workunits, but it's up there in the spare bedroom crunching away anyway. i think maybe when my average crunch time took a several hour jump it maybe completed one. but then it just might be the *one* that finds ET. i'm going for the science, not some kind of benchmark score.

...
The one I'm running is a 225 MHz one overclocked to 240. (I know 225 is faster, but I don't have a 75 MHz bus speed; it's either 200/66 or 240/60 and it won't run at 266/66).

There's something weird about the chip, though. It's marked as a WinChip-1, the version without 3dNow technology, and I bought it as such. But everything I run on it detects it as a WinChip-2, and says that 3dNow is present in the chip. I can't imagine why IDT would have marked a chip that way. It would be like AMD selling XP's as Durons. Maybe it flunked 3dNow testing and passed everything else, so they marked it as a WinChip-1, who knows?

Yes, just enter in the same email for each Seti client you setup.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz@1.35GHz (9x150)
Iwill KK266
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 5-2-2
Gainward GeForce3 Ti200 4ns 234/530
Gateway EV910 19" monitor (1600x1200 .26mm)
Seagate Barracuda IV 40GB 7200rpm
Lite-On 24/10/40 CD-RW | Asus 40x CD-ROM | Toshiba 16x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Professional
