My new project in the planning stages...

Post by Mr Toastz »

Well, I think I may finally get past my little life hiccup (translation - major repair/remodeling work on house) shortly - everyone keep their fingers crossed!

The second bedroom is slated to become my digital workroom, so I've been pondering various ways to construct the table/counter unit to maximize my efficiency.

Wall mounted outlet strips are in the plan, as are cable stowage racks underneath. I plan to incorporate a Parhelia into the mix, so there will be a monitor shelf optimized for a triple monitor arrangement. I may even attempt to splice the three flat panels together (once I get a chance to void the warranty on one of them and poke around inside...).

I also have a custom built computer case in mind for the main system. The plan is an Asus A7N8X at the core - with a mounting for four hard drives (Serial ATA Raid 0 + 1 Baby!), and a five -sided (seven if you count the top and bottom) case designed to nestle into a corner while still having all PCI slots and switches available from the 'front sides', and the CD/zip/floppy drives facing directly toward the user on the fifth face.

This will not be a 'cheap' system by any means. However, as I know there is a lot of interest in this stuff, I will of course document this project on K6Plus so that you guys can oooh and ahhh over my handiwork - seeing Relay keeps forgetting to write about his wood case mods! Show that stuff off Relay, people want to know!

And I still need to build mobile gaming rig #2 (that's what my Abit NForce is for). It's a hobby, and one I am having an absolute blast with!
