Hard Drive erasing?

Post by chevyt98 »

My old hard drive is starting to pack it in so I need to send it back to Seagate. I dont want there to be any chance of anyone getting hold of any personal info so I need to wipe all data from the disk. Fdisk and formatting is not enough (data is scrambled but still there). Anyone know a program to wipe this drive clean?

Regards Chevy
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Athlon T-Bird slota 900@950mhz
Athlon Classic 600@750mhz
Asus K7M Soyo K7VIA 256MB Crucial PC133 Cas 2
Abit Geforce2 MX400 32 mg
Seagate Barracuda Ultra ATA/66 20.4GB / Quantum Fireball EX 6.4GB 5400rpm
Samsung CD-R/RW SW-204B
Diamond Supra Max 56k
Windows XP Pro

You can low-level format the drive using Seagate's DiskWizard software.

<a href="http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/disc/ ...

I'm not sure this is the ultimate erasure or not.

Or you can use that spammonger "Evidence Eliminator". Heh. I wouldn't trust that for anything. It probably tries to send the contents of your HD across the internet.
