My K6 router is BSODing!!

Post by jonwest 01 »

I finally got my home server/router all set up running off of a fast 133 IDE card(see earlier post) but have now run into an even gnarlier problem. I have 2 NICs installed, one hooked up to cable and the other hooked up to a switch (and to the home network). I have ICS enabled on this thing and it pretty much works amazingly well...well except for one thing whenever I try to do anything from one of the client PCs involving any Westwood Studios game and the outside net the router goes belly up with a BSOD. The error message says something about IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL error in IPNAT.SYS, dumps the memory and then reboots. This is with a K62+on a 503+ (JE4333 Bios which I believe is the latest one). I've tried using a different set of NICs and that didn't help at all. Also tried routing on an Athlon machine and that didn't BSOD so I'm guessing that it's got something somewhere to do with the 503+. Tried scaling back all the BIOS settings and still no go. I'm totally out of ideas here...hoping someone has something that I haven't thought of.

The only problem my K6 router/server machine has given me was when I tried using Kerio Personal Firewall. Would blue screen often.

I've never used Window's ICS and it sounds like that's your problem. I use Sygate Home Network and it does well. It costs $40 though. A free option is AnalogX Proxy, don't know how well it works.

I guess either try one of those programs or maybe reinstall ICS or Windows. Could be a corrupt file or something..
-=-=-=-=-
Nohr's Rigs
