The need to be impartial and the purpose of this site

Post by Mr Toastz »

Hey all!

This is a little long winded, so please be patient with what I am trying to say here.

I've been thinking about this a bit of late, and felt I should share my thought on this matter.

I'm sure most of you have noticed the Mission Statement on the welcome (news) page. As the K6-x Processor line is being phased out over the next few years, our ability to focus on the Socket 7/Super 7 architecture is and will continue to become more difficult. However, we feel that we should share various news items that we discover that are of interest to our site visitors.

Our ability to generate unique content is rather limited, but we realize the need for this. Now that the site is looking better (still needs lots of work but it is workable), we are starting to focus on this a bit more. I should point out that all of us involved in the running of this site are doing it out of love for the K6 and mutual friendship, and no one is drawing any kind of paycheck from the site. The ads you see are to help pay for the maintenance of the site, and hopefully we can at least pay the bills without donations at some point in the future.

Our goal with this site is to let anyone using the Socket 7/Super 7 architecture know where all the tweak guides, articles, utilities, and such are, and even host those utilities in our download section as required. Also, we want to keep an active database for other members to refer to, and to keep our forum threads active for as long as we can so that others looking for answers can find them.

I have noticed on a couple of other sites of late that several hostile remarks were directed at other websites for this or that reason. I will say now that I definitely want to make sure that such statements stay off our front page, as there is a time and place to handle such things, and a proper way to conduct yourself in such instances. We are here for your enjoyment, and not to get you pissed off because of this or that remark.

Our forums are a little more fast and loose (although I am thinking the Mature forum probably should go at this point), and we expect people to express their opinions in a civilized manner while here. If we see inappropriate language, we are obligated to at least censor the offending words, but we will do our best to keep the spirit of the post intact. Please do not be upset when we need to do this; we are doing this for the benefit of the site in general.

We are also not trying to compete with the other tech sites with this website. They have much more talented people trying to make a living on the www, while we are only trying to give the K6 info a home that everyone can find. We all regularly visit other sites during the week to see the latest developments, and certainly expect you to do the same.

We also appreciate our small but loyal following, and will continue to serve you as best we can. As always, if you have suggestions, let us know!

Thanks for your attention,
and your thoughts on this are most welcome!

Mr Toast
<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

p.s. Relay, Nohr, Blue, & Benchmarkman, please share your opinions as well!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub70.ezboard.com/umrtoastz.show ... uage=EN>Mr Toastz at: 8/27/01 8:15:50 pm
