I borrowed a roommates last year at college when IE went stupid on my compyter. I ended up formatting. Anyway, his did get pretty warm...Not enough to burn the skin though. I would ask for a new laptop from the company/vendor if it got that hot. If it burns the skin, then that constitutes a free upgrade or refund or something....
I say intentionally burn yourself with the laptop, get them to give you a new one, and then put the cooler on the new laptop...
