What kind ram for Epox MVP3G5?

Post by Guest »

Would this board be able to support more than the 384mb it supports? I was thinking about getting maybe 2 sticks of Crucial 256mb PC133 32m x 64-bit but I wasn't sure if the board could handle it. Any thoughts?

It can handle 256 MB dimms, so 768 will work. The 256 MB dimms must be double sided, 8 chips a side though. They are harder to find than a couple years ago and more expensive.

Hmm would this ram work fine then? 16 chips so 8 per side.

It should. You could inquire via e-mail if they will work with Intel BX chipset motherboards. They have the same type of 256 MB module restriction as the MVP3 chipset motherboards.

Ah just read the description.

"These Mushkin PC133 modules are designed for motherboards based on the Intel BX, GX, 810,820 and Apollo chipset (As well as some leading chipsets)."

Looks like I found my ram :D

i'd recommend a geforce 3 or a radeon 8500/9000 over a radeon 9200. because agp 3.0 cards don't play well with these old agp1.0 boards.
