Burnin on Superpuppy 2

Post by Jim »

Superpuppy 3 is going down for a major overhaul. Will be using the hot swap tray on Superpuppy 2 to copy off all personal files on to spare drives intended for the still incomplete Superpuppy 5. Will then do low level format on all of Superpuppy 3s drives prior to reassembling and reloading from scratch.

For now am using Superpuppy 2. Burnin in progress. K6-3 450 ACZ @ 3x 110 @ 2.5v. Am hoping to be able to eventually get 5.5x110 = 605MHz stable. ASUS P5A-B Rev 104, cache working @3x110. See how it all works out. May eventually try 115 FSB.

Edit: Correction, cache not working. thought it was; but had previously been set disabled.

For now the Bios is reporting 336 MHz =3x112? Will check Sandra, Done Sandra is saying 337MHz.; is also saying FSB = 112.

Everest
Memory Read = 293 MB/s
Memory Write = 112 MB/s
Memory Latency = 224.5 ns

Note: These results, like most of the ones I post, are with taskbar items running as normal, ATI's Launchpad open, and also this window that I am typing in.

Edit: Have reset the FSB Back to 100; and the multiplier to 2.5, which strangely enough gives 2x100. Going to run it like that for a day then up the FSB to 105 for another day, after that back up to 110 for another day. Voltage has been reduced to the 2.4 setting, which in "ASUS volts" = 2.46v. Cache is now enabled, and ram timings are set to 7 ns = 143 MHz.

Everest :
Memory Read = 279 MB/s
Memory Write = 103 MB/s
Memory Latency = 234.5 ns

At end of 100MHz FSB burnin raised FSB to 105; and multiplier to 5.5 @ 2.2v. Then ran some tests.

Everest :
Memory Read = 337 MB/s
Memory Write = 186 MB/s
Memory Latency = 198.7 ns

Sandra :
Arithmetic = 1415 / 682
Multimedia = Int MMX 3306 / Float 3D Now 3937
Memory Bandwidth = (195 / 196), (197 / 200), (212 / 212), (217 / 215), (222 / 220), (223 / 219).
Cache & Memory = 8913 Total MB (added various outputs up w/ calculator)

All tests conducted w/ 7ns ram timing (143 MHz), and aggressive "Power Tweak " settings.

After the tests the grief began. Corruption everywhere. Took hours to sort it out. Cause traced down to 7ns ram timing. - Got to get better ram.
