newb question

Post by saintlycobra »

I'm not so much a newb to computers, but I haven't used a SS7 board in forever. My parents recently bought themselves a new computer and gave me their old one, an Asus p5a-b with a k6-2 550 in it. I have been looking around the net, ran across the plus series of processors and noted that a p5a-b board with rev 1.04/3 or less runs the plus processors just fine. However, I have no idea how to determine what revision my board is. What simple, little detail am I missing? Thanks for any help. Btw, this board looks like it could quickly become a favorite of mine as this box is now my primary machine (since I blew up the ram bus on my Athlon board and I don't like using my laptop as my primary machine).

Says right on the board> Between the first and second PCI slots, you will find ASUS; between the second and third PCI slots you will find P5A-B Rev 10?. Welcome to the fraternity.
