Not altogether.

I had built my Epox SS7 mostly for fun and as a backup to my XP rig. I had a Chaintech 7NIL1 nf2 400 matx and a Duron 1600 doing nothing and decided to make that my backup because it was quicker and seemed to support my digital camera better. Then my primary rig began doing a better job w/the camera.

I made a mistake throwing all my SS7 gear on Ebay, and last night I withdrew 5 of those auctions, especially the Epox MB. Why? A simple socket 7 backup is all I need to cover for a glitch in my primary system or during a re-build of same. Uncharacteristic for me, I hadn't seriously verified what that gear might sell for, instead, setting prices I thought the items were worth. I had about $250 invested in those 5 items, and might only net $25-$50 (excluding the 450+ which is selling).

Bottomline, I'm going to sell the Chaintech MB and Duron, and rebuild the Epox with my K6 III 333@428, maybe 450. Sure it's a comedown from my 450+ at 560, but it's all I need to stay online in a pinch. It'll also enable to keep recapturing that original $250. Perhaps the shock came the most when I saw that a fine Epox MB like mine recently sold on Ebay for 99 cents.

It'll be fun bolting my SS7 back together, and squeezing it for all it's worth! :D

Thanks taz!

Having a K6 III running well is sort of like having a classic 1939 Ford. Won't touch the muscle cars, but does the job just fine. :D

I hear ya. Bet you're running a X2 at 5ghz just for for kicks.

Say, I'm having fun following the Volvo Ocean race, with the yachts due in Melbourne soon. Southern Ocean a tough rascal.

X2? I wish!

1.83Ghz SocketA ticks over nicely though :D

Yeah, you'd be suprised how many yachts in races around the southern end of Oz get into strife... it's a wicked ocean (especially the bite) when it wants to be ;)

Socket A is fine for me now too. I picked up a 1800 DLT3C 1.5v tbred B on Ebay for peanuts, and it's doing fine at 2255 @1.60v ATM. I modded a little mini tower to accomodate a Biostar M7NCG 400 matx MB. Rig is small, fast and Quiet (not pure silent darnit). I'm sure the chip will go higher, but I'm more into stability and quiet more than trying to milk the last gasp out of a rig. Perhaps my advanced years are giving me a tad of wisdom?

I used to race on smaller sailboats on San Francisco Bay about 15 years ago. Have followed the racing scene ever since, and read a lot about the Southern Ocean, including too many tragic accidents. Paul Cayard of San Francisco is skippering the damaged Disney boat Pirates in this race. This leg is from Cape Town to Melbourne, always a rough passage. My onboard GF4 video won't let me use Volvo's 3D race viewer, so expect I'll reinstall my Radeon 8500 and get back on the water.

Snow here, hope your summer is fine! :)
