@Jim -

You can run anything anyway you want to...the question then becomes how long will it last there... :roll:

@skinnie -

It has got to be a BIOS bug if it shows 200x1, since the MMX does not have a x1 multiplier.

BF@ 0,0 = 2/5 = 2.5x
BF@ 0,1 = 1/3 = 3x
BF@ 1,0 = 1/2 = 2x (float also, not supported)
BF@ 1,1 = 2/7 = 3.5x

Running at 100 MHz FSB is a 150% overclock of the CPU's input multiplier, so you are certainly working it pretty hard...no guarantees on how long it will last...no matter how cool you keep the thing.

Which version BIOS are you running now?

*Usually*, the *best* BIOS is one that fixes any problems you are having, and adds any *features* you may desire.

This BIOS *may* not always be the latest release...

In either case, both has shutdown issues...

I know the answer to that problem, compliments of "Mulvihill". I had the same prob, - wouldn't shutdown. To solve it, reinstall Windoze; and when you are ready to type the "Setup" command, type "Setup /P I". That is "Setup" (space) "/P I".. That will solve your shutdown problem. What that does is disable ACPI, which is what causes the problem.

Jim's correct about the JE4333. That BIOS will also let you run large hard drives (I think either greater than 32 GB or 64 GB, not sure what the limit was before).

For the VA-503+, the appropriate BIOS is located here.

The only downside to that BIOS is that you lose the CPU temperature and CPU fan speed monitors in the BIOS.

I wonder why that BIOS (JE4333) is not mentioned here -> http://www.fic.com.tw/support/motherboa ... odel_id=19

Hmm, maybe you have a fairly recent BIOS? It could be that my boards had a significantly older BIOS when I did the updates.

Or I could very well be confusing the FICs with another board I may have had. Senility kicking in and all that... :shock:

KW: I think they don't actually put it in their regular BIOS list because the 4333 is considered a beta and not officially supported. I'm only guessing at FIC's motivations, though!
