Did you verify that the machine will pass MemTest with all RAM installed?

Installed 512mb ram and ran memtest 8 hours overnight with no errors.

Tried the other link provided by Donpedro and deactivated all start ups. Still no boot into windows with 512mb ram.

stedman, I did not expect you to to deactivate whatever the tool finds, instead I wanted you to post what it finds.

with literally everything deactivated no wonder the system won't boot through!

I am sorry if I didn't made this point clear enough.

It's got to be a Windows problem then if all RAM is recognized and passes a MemTest.

Did you try part 2 of that MS article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/181966/EN-US/ - Limit Memory to <x> MB)?

I think most of us agree that this is not a hardware issue. Knowing nothing about the idiosyncracys of ME, my suggestion would be, (using a spare HDD so as not to mess up your software install), install your 512 meg of ram, then clear the bios, and finally reload windows w/ 512 Meg installed when you do it. That should work if ME is capable of seeing and using 512 Meg.

I am not too sure if it is not a hardware problem....

I also have strange problem with one of my GA-5AX. I have two of these, and the one that gives me problem is older, but the PCB revision is 5.2, chipset revision is revision E! well it states like this.... somehow this particular mainboard could only handle 1 stick of SDRAM in windows xp. I tried to put 1x256MB, and it worked fine, but as soon as I put more than 1 stick of memory into that, the system would freeze soon after windows xp loading was done. I tried different memory sticks, different RAM size, different memory slots, new BIOS, re-install OS, replacing HD, replacing everything, all same result. Memtest86 couldn't find any fault either. In the end, I could only put 1 stick of memory into that mainboard. this happened about 2 years ago.

My other GA-5AX does not exhibit such problem at all. Its PCB revision is 5.2, and the chipset revision seems to be revision G. The quality of the PCB looks a lot better than the first one.
