Ok, currently I'm doublechecking (and if possible replacing) all cables and pins on the mobo. I found one cable I'm not sure what its for. It comes out of one of the 5-pin power cables (that supply the hdd or cdrom with power). It consists of 2 cables, one black, one red, 5mm wide (it looks like one of the cables that are connected in the lower left, left of the cpu. What could it be? :?:

Edit: So its a cable that is directly connected to the AT power supply... but still dont know what its for...

O.K. found the most recent Manual for the HOT 591P , should you require it post your e-mail and I can then send it to you. PDF file is 3.80 megs in size.

I can get my HOT 591P system up to run tests as you have, I have a AMD K6-2 450+ / K6-III 450+ / K6-2 500/533/550 regular CPU's to test from.
I also have Win XP Pro regular and can install SP1 or SP2 to see results from Memtest86+ . My power supply is AT in the case presently.

The XP Pro O.S may be seeing the CPU Plus as a unknown due to the extra cache on chip and how it may try to allocate it. BIOS update you have is ???

So, here we go again...

Made all of the suggestions before (Jumper settings, btw, all have been that way, BIOS settings, new WinXP) and its still the same...

Also wanted to show the "graphical errors" in WinXP. So far, it only happens with the tasks on the left of a window (for example Software window). It happens while moving the mouse over it. When opening another window, and going back, it looks normal again.

(I'm trying to explain what I mean with tasks on the left, dont know the english WinXP, but trying my best: You can switch it on/off at: Control Panel, System, Extended (right of "Hardware"), Visual Effects >> its the first box called something like "Ordinary Tasks in Folders" :?:)

If I switch that off, everything SEEMS to be ok...

The only other situation, the graphics are unusual is then starting windows (the "blue" screen saying windows is started, theres a white line on the bottom) or then shutting down (the text: Windows is shutting down is covered by a deepblue field).

If I get my hands on a atx power supply, I'll try that. I'm also thinking of connecting the ATX Power supply of my AMD Sempron 3000+ with the HOT-591P-mobo without replacing the power supplies (just put these to computers next to each other so that the atx cable is long enough to be conected with the HOT-mobo. is that a good idea? If the ATX supply is disconnected from my AMD Sempron-Board, is there anything that could happen to my Sempron??

So, re-instaling WinXP for the 8th time. Data corruption all over the harddrive.

Then tried already to connect it to the atx supply of my sempron-computer. Didnt work, guess i forgot something. (couldnt switch it on... :?: )

Now i'm not sure if I should try to get this DFI mobo from ebay. If its really the cpu, then i wasted even more money. But you all sound so convinced that its NOT the cpu... I dont know what to think or to do with this K6+ $?&*&§/

What I need now, is a bit of success with this HOT-591P-Board. :!: Maybe you could tell me what to do to run this AMD K6-2 at 600MHz (first thing of course to set the multi at 2x (6x), what about the voltage?)

Greetings...

When you tried connecting your ATX power supply to the 591P motherboard, did you also connect the POWER switch cable that was connected to the other motherboard? Or you could short across the POWER switch motherboard connection on the 591P.

Did you re-install WinXP using the K6-2+ or the K6-2?

To run the K6-2 550AGR at 600MHz, first try the 2x multiplier and 2.3V. If it won't run/boot up, raise the voltage to 2.3v. No guarantee that it will run at 600MHz - a lot of them will not since they are at the upper speed limit already.

yes, get the point, its no use using the power switch if its cable is connected to the right board... will try that again... but right now I'm still trying to re-install winxp for the 8th time. always gives me a "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error...

That error is usually related to drivers or faulty hardware. Are you installing WinXP on the 591P while other devices (PCI or ISA cards, printers, USB devices) are attached?

Reformated the HDD?

sylvan2626 sez:

Memtest is testing the RAM modules, the CPU cache (L1 and L2) and the motherboard L2 cache (which becomes the L3 cache with the K6-2+).
Memtest also tests the CPU itself for the most part (something has to perform the memory moves, reads, and writes)...though things like arithmetic computations, etc... are not tested.

K6-2 550 = 2.3V VCore (2.2-2.4V acceptable, 2.5V Max), 13A
K6-2/+ 550 = 2.0V Vcore (1.9-2.1V acceptable, 2.2V Max), 9.5A

VCore current will not be an issue as the + series CPU uses less.

O.K. sent the later updated German Manual for the HOT 591P motherboard.

hopefully I got the correct e-mail. :)

I would not try the 600 Mhz overclock just yet. It would be better just to run the system stable at the lower speed of 500.

I am going to update the BIOS to the 591ps025.bin with Awdflash.exe as from the website to see what's different from the patched file of Jan's .

Now I updated the BIOS from the Patched file of Jan's 591pxxIQH to the 591ps025.bin and there are some differences on posting and within the Bios screens themselves. I would expect better responsiveness as the date alone of the Bios is a whole year later

The SDRAM is recognised as Sycn setted as posted and with Bios the SDRAM is posted up as 10ns or 8ns or Med/Fast/Turbo which is bette than before :)

Now preceding with XP Pro install.

I'm talking about the perfectly working AMD K6-2 550 (CXT), not the plus CPU. Its said the cxt AMDs are perfect for OC....

Did you get the German Manual ?

Overclock only after you have the system stable. (IMHO)

I am presently loading up XP Pro ...will let you know how it goes. After it is stable will put in a AMD K6-2 550 before using a PLUS type CPU.

I am using a PCI video card to start with ...later a AGP unit.
