congrats, c.imp!

another sis540 board:

leadtek winfast 5400max. i downloaded a chinese manual, it claims the board to support 166 mhz fsb. ok, with an asterisc, but ...

there is an ibm aptiva socket 7 board - the ibm 2196-47.

all seem to look very similar - the adimm slot confuses everywhere.

i would be lucky to see 100mhz screenies of the sis540. it seems that nobody here before tried out that chipset.

lets sit and wait ...

I wouldn't hold your breath as we all know the SIS530 chipset is not a great performer. The SIS540 is similar to the SIS630 which was developed for the socket 370 set up. I have tested the SIS630 chipset and it suffers from exactly the same poor memory throughput exhibited by the SIS530 chipset.

stedman,

its just for the knowledge about the last socket7 chipsets. who knows, maybe 1 ghz is theoretically possible or sis540 video onboard runs well at 133mhz?
its just for messing around a bit ...

Steve finally got around to checking all his stock in storage, and unfortunately he does not have any of the various Sis540 chipset boards at this time.

They are not unused. Superpuppy 5 has a 1 Meg cache Rev B2, and Superpuppy 3 has a 2 Meg cache Rev B2. You can find pics of both of them in my "What is a Superpuppy?" post. I doubt however if you will see any obvious differences. Possibly the chipset version is different; but mine are under fans now.

OK, i see, thanks. By the way for me motherboard like K6BV3+ with occupied ISA slots came absolutely useless. Anyway, you make superb rig :)

Did you know something about BB+ revision? It is the same as rev.B2 (just it 2nd name) or something little different instead of both rev.B1 & B2?

Thanks for the compliment; unfortunately, however, my temperature sensing setup is not working and probably never will. That is because the sensors are "thermocouples", (cheap capitalist junk), instead of thermistors. Thermistors would have worked; but thermocouples apparently have zero impedance; and according to KachiWachi require that the circuit be made entirely of 1 kind of metal, (thereby making soldering imposible, - you have to weld the stupid things). Useless crap; but probably 1/4 of a cent cheaper, and hence preferred by manufacturers. What kills is the Enermax is designed to take its readings from thermocouples; and if I substituted thermistors for the thermocouples, the variation in impedance would be such that the readings would be out of range.

As for the Rev BB+, never heard of it. It may possibly be a generic term for both the Rev B1 and the Rev B2.

again and again

i am surprised of the diverse number of socket 7 moherboards. since i am using an at board, there is a lack of pci slots, if i want to install more addon cards.
and now i found the ti5vga from tmc - atx format, but 6 pci slots and one agp. wow, i thought. but the most surprising was a single 2mb cache chip! elitemt, of course. mvp3, udma66, 133fsb and 1,3V support makes this board even more interesting.

as there are 6,5ns tag-rams out there, i still dont burried the idea of running the cache at 133mhz ... but i wont have time for that :(
