Looking for particular ss7 mobo....

Post by aleksej »

Sorry for so simple and stupid thread name. English is not my primary language.

HI, i new on this forum and i like it. I love and and still use s7 platforms as you all.

I looking for super socket 7 motherboard with 2 things which required for me:
atleast three ISA slots
2mb L2 cache

or as alternative - what is most powerful super socket 7 mobo with three ISA slots minimum? Maybe without 2mb cache but working stable at 133mhz FSB with 1/4 divider?
I use P55T2P4 with K6-III+ 500mhz (6x83) for last three years. That mobo is dead now and i wish to build powerful socket7 rig without overclocking as possible in my hardware long live reason.
Now i use Tyan S1590 with the same CPU and want to build something better but 3 ISA slots is important for me.

Any ideas?

Looks like you need a DFI K6BV3+/66, if you can find one...

Anyway thanks again!

Whoa! seems like this MB not so expensive and very cheap todays even in comparison with other ss7 MBs :)

privet c.imp,

yes, the dfi is a good board with three isa slots and 2mb cache availible. but note - the board in that austrian auction has only 1 mb. if you wanna get a cheap one, but only with ata 33 support and voltages above 2 V, get the k6bv3 (without \66).

hi, kalabok
you know me? (i'm about your ru translation)
i see that MB has 1mb L2 cache (only one chip soldered) and i don't want to buy THIS board. I just note that these boards no so expensive.
K6XV3+/66 a good too with ATX PROs (atleast ISA/PCI slot brackets free because COM/LPT/PS/USB I/O onboard already)

I have never tried the 133Mhz FSB on my DFI, because I do not think it supports a 1/4 PCI bus divider. So you may be disappointed there.

I'll ask Steve at Above All Electronics. He has some PC Chips boards; but I don't know if he has that one.

Steve is going to check to see if he has what you are looking for. He isn't sure exactly what he has in the way of PC Chips boards, he just know he has some. 571s he is sure of, 581s he doesn't know.

Interesting...I looked around to see what boards out there have the SiS540 chipset and here's what I found:

Matsonic
MS6391E
MS6393E

Amptron
PM-586LMR

PCChips
M581LMR
M586LMR

There's also some OEM boards out there from IBM and maybe some others.
All these boards appear to have the same features and are jumperless. I downloaded the BIOS's of a couple boards and looked at the FSB options using AMIBCP. No board had a FSB setting over 100 selectable. :(

Have to go the CPU Cool route then. - (The DFI K6BV3+/66 doesn't have any settings over 100 FSB either; but CPU Cool lets you enable whatever the chipset will support - in the case of the DFI, up to 150 Mhz FSB, provided the PLL is one that CPU Cool supports).
