Post by socket7! »

Hello, I have coupe of questions to you guys.

Is it technically possible to replace m1541 chipset with its newer revision taken from another mobo? Will it work?

Does anyone know aladdin V+ based mobo with 1024kb cache?

There were 1 Meg Cache Aladdin 5 boards made; but I don't know who made them. As far as replacing the chipset chips w/ newer versions, technically possible ? I think so. Gary Headlee could probably do it. I know I asked him if he could take a cache chip off a 1 Meg DFI K6BV3+/66 and put it on another to make a two meg board, and he said yes. Would it work ? Don't know. Depends on how different the newer chipset is I suppose.

Two things come to mind.
  • 1. The footprint and pinout (pin function) need to be exactly the same.
    2. The BIOS needs to recognize the new chipset.
Thanks.
