Hi, I have an AMD K6-III 450Mhz and my question is, if it is proftable to buy a K6-2+ 550MHz for ~18$.
Can I overklock this mobile processor better than my K6-III? I think so, because of smaller manufacturing process and lower voltage; Is that right? Do you think this processor will manage over 600MHz with an ASUS P5A-B?
I had the thougt to buy this processor, because my K6-III 450MHz don't go stable at a frequenzy over 500MHz...
And another question: The K6-2+ has a 128k L2 cache and the K6-III has 256k. Does this have any negative effects on the performance?
Thanks a lot!

RE: K6-2+ 550Mhz much better than K-6-III 450MHz?
The K6-2+ 550 will outperform the K6-3 450. You can almost, (in most cases), certainly clock the K6-2+ 550 up to 600, and possibly somewhat higher. Depending on how radical your cooling solution is, 5.5x112, 6x105 may be possible with a good socket A heatsink fan combo; but any higher than that, requires pretty advanced cooling.
A K6-3+ 450 ACZ however will outperform the K6-2+ 550.; because it can also be overclocked to about the same speed and it has the extra cache.
